SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: While it took a couple of months for a troll to jump in on the V-Jennie dating rumor that first started in May, it has now taken off at an alarming rate that has fans of BTS and Blackpink worried. Following three allegedly leaked photos that claim V and Jennie are dating, on September 2, we suddenly got a barrage of photos that a new hacker claimed were from Jennie’s iCloud. 

Dating is considered taboo in South Korea as toxic fans think they have a say in idol’s life due to the amount of money they invest in them. Many feel that Jennie and EXO Kai’s breakup was partly due to the immense hate that the Blackpink star got for dating him. However, the hackers’ continuous leak may have had the opposite effect. While at first Blackpink and BTS fans were at each other’s throats, they have now united to stop this invasion of privacy. Blinks (Blackpink’s fandom) and ARMY (BTS’ fandom) are doing their best to get the two idols’ labels to take legal action against the hackers.

Blackpink and BTS fans unite

With BTS and Blackpink being the biggest K-pop groups, their fandoms have a nasty relationship as they boast that their group is better. The rivalry is immense as fans go to the extent of sending death threats and cyberbullying the other fandom. When a dating rumor between Blackpink’s Rose and BTS’ J-hope cropped up, Blinks made tweets like ‘Free Rose’ while ARMY made tweets like ‘Free J-hope’.

When the first dating rumor between Jennie and V started circulating, ARMY were asking V to stay away from Jennie due to her allegedly problematic past relationships while Blinks were asking Jennie to stay away from V who smokes. But now, instead of sending hate to the other fandom, Blinks and ARMY have united. While some think that the photos are edited and others think they are real, they want YG and HYBE to stop the leak completely as it is an invasion of privacy.

‘They don’t deserve the hate’

We have ended up getting tweets like, “THEY DON'T DESERVE THE HATE! PROTECT JENNIE BIGHIT PROTECT TAEHYUNG HYBE PROTECT TAEHYUNG PLEASE RESPECT JENNIE DO SOMETHING PROTECT YOUR ARTISTS.” Another fan posted, “The two artists who are keeping the lights on in y'all mid ass companies are being dragged, harrassed, and their privacy is being invaded. So WHY are you not doing anything? Why no action taken yet? MOVE YOUR ASSES AND DO SOMETHING TO PROTECT THEM.”

The fan also added, “Army and blinks need to put aside this lil petty ass fan war and actually come together to get these damn companies attention, it’ll only get worse for both Taehyung and Jennie if something doesn’t get done. Big news accounts be posting this and we still can’t get their attention.” Another joked, “Armys and blinks protecting jennie and taehyung together cause some weirdo loves to invade privacy.” One fan commented, “ARMYS & BLINKS, it’s time for us to be united. Let’s set aside fanwars & negativity. Let’s help each other to solve this issue between Kim Taehyung & Jennie. Let’s prioritize their PRIVACY and SAFETY !!” Another fan wrote, “EXACTLY WE ARE BOTH POWERFUL FANDOMS IF WE COME TOGETHER WE CAN TAKE THIS SHITTY PEOPLE DOWN.”
