What happened between Katy Perry and Ryan Seacrest? 'American Idol' judge avoided host on set before leaving ABC show
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It looks like things are not okay between 'American Idol' judge Katy Perry and show host Ryan Seacrest.
Katy Perry recently avoided Ryan Seacrest on the 'American Idol' set shortly before she announced her departure from the show as a judge, as per a report by The Us Sun.
It has been reported by the media outlet that ever since Perry announced she was leaving the ABC show, it appears she has been attempting to steer clear of the show's host, Ryan Seacrest.
On Thursday, the cast and crew of the show visited the Aulani Disney Resort in Kapolei, Hawaii. Wearing floral outfits, they were filming for the next season of 'American Idol' while spending time with Minnie and Mickey.
"I noticed interactions between Katy and Ryan Seacrest were pretty icy and they would only interact when the cameras were rolling. Otherwise, they would just pass each other and not even look in each other's direction," an eyewitness told the publication.
The eyewitness went on to say, "For the most part, Katy kept to herself unlike prior years on set, and there really seemed to be a distance between herself and the other judges. She has always been particularly close with Luke Bryan and Lionel but this year, she would film her segment and leave the set as soon as she could."
Why did Katy Perry leave 'American Idol'?
During an appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' on February 12, 2024, Katy Perry revealed that she was exiting 'American Idol' after seven seasons.
“I think this probably will be my last show, my last season for Idol. I mean, I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat, you know what I’m saying, Jimmy?” the 'Roar' singer said while winking at the host.
When questioned about her fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan's thoughts on her exit, Katy responded, "Well they’ll find out tonight!”
Then, she mentioned that her fellow judges were well-versed with her plans for this year. She stated, “They know that I have some things planned for this year."
The mom of one further added, “So it’s going to be a very, very exciting year … for all popstar girlies!”
For the unversed, Katy became a judge joining the singing competiton's panel alongside Bryan and Richie in the year 2018. This marked the revival of the show by ABC after it had previously aired for an impressive 15 seasons on Fox.
Who will replace Katy Perry in 'American Idol'?

Regarding the possibility of a comeback, Katy Perry told Kimmel she had an open mindset and was receptive to the idea.
"Maybe I’ll come back if they'll have me one day!" Katy responded.
