It has become a well-known fact that messing with fans of BTS is risky business for anyone in the Entertainment industry. From TV hosts like James Corden who was called out for joking about BTS in good humor to underground rappers like Bfree who teased BTS’ RM (Namjoon) and Suga for being girly and putting on makeup during their rookie days only for him to go MIA from Twitter later. ARMYs have infamously been known as a dangerous fandom who will do anything for the seven boys of Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) with the same love and respect extended on to them from BTS members who put their fans first.

A new celebrity had taken it upon himself to try and mess around with BTS when the fandom was already furious about the Grammys snub. Multiple Grammy Award-winning producer, Mike Dean who has worked with western rappers like Kanye West who is currently sour about his work being snubbed out of the Grammy for ‘Album of the Year’ started directing his anger toward BTS. In a tweet made from the Recording Academy’s Twitter handle, they asked if there was any other performer as smooth as BTS was to which Mike Dean responded saying, “Anyone.”

Mike Dean's banter with BTS fans

It is a well-established fact that BTS members have made careers for infamous people merely by talking about them and now a famous, Grammy-winning producer like Mike Dean tried to mess with BTS has led many fans to wonder if his hate for the boy group is backed with the intention of gaining clout from ARMYs. The producer has now deleted his original tweet but the said conversation sparked extreme back and forth between him and BTS fans. Fans claimed that the producer was being sour for a snub instead of being happy that Jon Batiste won a Grammy for Album of the Year in his stead.

The producer on being called out for his random hate comments responded in one tweet also saying, “I like to push ARMYs buttons.” Hours after the back and forth between many ARMYs and the producer, Mike Dean finally apologized for his comments with a final tweet directed toward BTS saying, “OK. SORRY TO BTS. JUST F**KING TROLLING.” He followed that with, “Ok folks. I was mad about album of the year and made a post I shouldn’t have made. My gf just made me feel bad for it.” The comment also got attention from BTS’ producer Doc Skim who said, “As a keyboardist/producer and fan of hip hop, I’m inspired by @therealmikedean. He’s one of the legends. BTS are my little brothers and amazingly talented guys. Just disappointed that someone I look up to said those things. Hard to explain. But definitely not okay.”

Is Mike Dean trolling BTS just to get new music with them?

Fans now are sure that following the outcome of his past banter with rapper A$AP Rocky, the producer is trying to mess with ARMYs so that BTS members acknowledge Mike Dean and the two artists collaborate in the future. He himself made a tweet saying, “Like when I had issue with asap. I ended up mixing his whole album and we are best of family,” after a fan said, “U gotta make a song w them now i guess.”

'BTS showed us what real music is all about'

His petty banter with BTS fans had one fan saying, “Mike dean should’ve kept bts name out their mouth an us army’s wouldn’t have came for their neck,” to which he responded by saying, “U will all grow up and discover music one day.” One more fan responded to Mike saying, “Well I did discover real music since some of you western artists got bored and all started sounding the same and stopt growing. BTS showed us what real music and performance is all about. But you sir need to apologize because you started all this mess in the first place.”

One fan initially responded, “Discover music one day" lol How do you think BTS, who sings in 90% + Korean yet are able to have loyal fans around the world who support them. Bc of excellence of their music.  Don't be such an a$$.” Another fan said, “Dude *cough* *cough* i mean old man. Perform like bts first. Then we can talk. What a clout behaviour.” Another fan said, “We don't even know you. We don't see you on the news. So if your career is failing, just shut up! Back off. Leave BTS alone! You are such a clout chaser! LMAO!” One more fan pointed out, “You’d think such a Legendary HipHop Producer would be happier that a black man won album of the year for the first time in 14 years and wouldn’t go “let me attack that asian group that wasn’t even nominated against me” but i guess..”
