Grammys 2022: BTS’ interactions prove why ‘Grammys need BTS’ and not the other way around

Fans claim that the Grammys were essentially a meet and greet party for international celebrities to meet BTS

It is a well-known fact that BTS members make every place their own the moment they set foot at an event. Fans really do not care if the group was snubbed out of a Grammy award for the second time in a row as they failed to win the ‘Best Pop Duo/Group’ at the 2022 Grammys despite having a chart-topping, record-breaking hit like ‘Butter’. Not in words but in deeds, BTS members proved why they are the ones that make the Grammys relevant and not the other way around.

This year too, just like the history of the award show has it, BTS was used for clout given the power of ARMYs while the members were obviously disappointed as they appeared together on VLive and stated how they really thought they would win. Cheering fans as well as their own selves up, members of BTS said they were glad all seven of them delivered an amazing performance at the show. They got a standing ovation while fans were surprised by the number of international artists who flaunted their photos with the boys.

International artists ‘get in line’ to meet BTS

From Halsey, who has been BTS’ proud supporter and friend, to Megan Thee Stallion, their newest bestie, all got photos with the group. The boys were also seen in a snapshot with popular designer Donatella Versace among many other celebs at the awards ceremony. V of BTS shocked fans as he radiated confidence interacting with staff on the red carpet and later flirting with Olivia Rodrigo for the BTS performance while also getting a hug from Lady Gaga as well as Jon Batiste.

So many celebrities posting photos with BTS members had fans saying that the Grammys show was not an awards ceremony but a BTS meet and greet party where international artists stood in line and took photos with the boys. Comedian Trevor Noah also took a jab at BTS’ popularity claiming he was not getting paid to host the 2022 Grammys in cash but in the form of interaction with BTS members. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend channeled peak parent behavior as they brought their daughter Luna in to take a group photo with BTS.

‘Grammys need BTS to stay relevant’

BTS fans allege that all these international celebrity interactions coupled with the way Grammys have been snubbing BTS are proof of why BTS does not need the Grammy award but the show needs BTS’ name paired to it in order for it to stay relevant. One fan said, “So nice of BTS to hold meet & greet for celebs at grammy.” Another said, “BTS literally do not need that Grammy trophy or whatever you call it. BTS theirselves are relevant and legend already. Like what Forbes said, Grannys is getting irrelevant so who really need who? Congratulations for the 4-day sold out concert.” One fan added, “A WHOLE STANDING OVATION. BTS, the grammys need u more than u need their award.”

One fan claimed, “The Grammy's really be using BTS for views by saving their performances at the end of the show and not even giving them the awards they deserve. I'm not even a KPOP fan and I'm upset.” One fan quipped, “No Trevor get in line, I call dibs on RM,” while another fumed “We are upset with the Grammy’s as BTS was used again by them. They mad it seem like there was hope for the boys to win and they even put them up front and center to the stage. We just feel like they are using our boys to get more views and make them selves relevant.” One tweet read, “At the end of the day, they need BTS to be more relevant, because without them they don't know them, and if they do, nobody sees them.”
