Did Hyuna and Dawn use P Nation? Fans bash trolls blaming couple for leaving Psy's label after Jessi
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: P Nation, the K-pop label owned by K-pop sensation Psy and his artists, is going through a rough patch. The first blow was when fans found out that the label's first and biggest artist, Jessi, was not going to renew her contract early in July 2022 with P Nation after it expired three years after she was signed. Now, close to two months following news of her departure, it has been reported that K-pop's 'it couple', Hyuna and Dawn, who are both signed under the label as soloists, will be departing after the termination of their contracts.
Fans may recall that both Hyuna and Dawn (who was formerly EDawn from Pentagon) had their exclusive contracts with Cube Entertainment terminated in 2018 after it was found that they were in a relationship outside the label's knowledge. When the two idols were kicked out of Cube, fans were indebted to Psy for welcoming them. However, fans believe that they are ditiching Psy now that the public sentiment was in their favor. However, other fans highlighted the problems with P Nation's management.
Hyuna and Dawn exit P Nation
On Monday, August 29, P Nation released a short and curt statement revealing that both Hyuna and Dawn's contracts with the label as solo artists had expired. As a result of that, the couple was going to part ways with the label that helped expedite their comeback to K-pop. The statement said, "We would like to inform you that Hyuna and Dawn's exclusive contract with P Nation has recently expired."
P Nation's statement continued, "All members of P Nation will cherish the pleasant memories of working with Hyuna and Dawn for a long time, and we will continue to support their activities in the future."
'We've been saying P Nation sucks for years'
However, it was hard for fans to believe that after making their comeback in what was dubbed as the 'redemption label' in K-pop, Hyuna and Dawn are choosing to leave P Nation. Other fans claimed that just like Jessi, Hyuna and Dawn got very limited promotions and comebacks stating that the artists were not being used to the best of their potential. One fan said, "Its like they used PNation when they were kicked out of cube and now that everythings stable they are leaving. Jessi also got lot of famous while in PNation and then she also left after using them."
Another fan responded, "Stable? Their careers are not what you'd call "stable." I wouldn't be surprised if they were dropped by the label. Either way, there's no point in presuming they "used" them. Used them to accomplish what exactly?" One more fan said, "That's pretty sad. I wonder what the next step will be." Another fan said, "Hyuna and dawn leaving pnation is the best thing i’ve heard this entire year!!! let’s GOO!! FREEDOM BABY!!"
One fan asked, "I’m not as invested in k*op stuff as I used to be but what is the tea at pnation cuz I love Jessi Hyuna and dawn." One more fan said, "Not the fact that it took hyuna and dawn to leave for yall to realize why we hated this company. We've been saying p nation sucks for years." A fan said, "I hope whatever company Dawn and Hyuna go to treats them really well cause they deserve nothing but the best."
