'Devs' Episode 7 Preview: Can Lily finally defy the predictions of the Devs program?

The pre-finale episode of the dark, sci-fi thriller is going to unearth more mystery of Amaya’s most-coveted and secret program and see Lily explore ways to change her fate. Or so it seems

Another murder, leading to more mystery, is what’s coming for you before the team of 'Devs' says goodbye. Standing almost near the series finale, you would expect the pieces of its puzzle to all fall into place and give you the complete picture. But that wouldn’t meet the objective of this show, will it?

As is classic to Alex Garland's storytelling, the plot of this twisted sci-fi thriller keeps thickening and getting more mysterious with every passing episode. So, expect the pre-finale one to be the same.

The last two episodes were relatively simpler, and surprisingly, "feel good", for a change, when we saw other significant characters like Jamie and Katie bring us more to the table with their background and more development of their characters' journey.

And now, as the preview of the upcoming Episode 7 shows, it will be mysterious all over again. The trailer shows glimpses of murder, but whose? All we get to see is a body with two broken fingers lying on the ground, and there are blood tracks all over.

We also see Lily violently hitting someone; could it be Kenton? It would not be unexpected since we saw Kenton earlier clearly laying his terms to Forest and Katie stating that he would not go to prison for all he has done for them.

And in the trailer of Episode 7, we see him with a gun in hand, standing outside Jamie and Lily’s hotel room. So, either Jamie dies (remember how Kenton broke his fingers?) or Lily attacks Kenton and he dies.

Take a look at the trailer which shows the possibilities you could expect in the next episode.

Elsewhere, Lyndon tries to reach out to Katie for more answers and clarity on Devs and its dangerous impact on people, if it remains with a man like Forest. Katie has nothing to hide, which was clear from the previous episode when she explained the program and what it does to Lily and how she was involved in Sergei's death.

Whether her bold and direct approach is doing any good or not, is what time will tell, probably soon.

Now, Lily knows what is coming for her, and she has resolved to break the prediction and defy the program's predictive algorithm. We all know that as per the calculations, Lily is supposed to die soon but she will also be largely responsible for bringing it all down.

Could the next episode be that turning point of the story, where all the mysteries start unfolding and culminate into a dramatic ending?

'Devs' Episode 7 airs on Thursday, April 9, only on FX on Hulu.
