The thriller genre is expanding with Hulu’s upcoming movie ‘Deep Water’ starring Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas in lead roles. Hulu has been delivering a lot of compelling stuff in recent times and it seems they are going to make things even more interesting with the upcoming thriller flick.

Based on the 1957 novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith, the movie revolves around a married couple (Armas and Affleck) who have fallen out of love with each other begin playing deadly mind games against one another that begin seeing those around them dying. The novel is considered to be one of the best psychological thriller books of all time and has been adapted for a movie thrice.

When does ‘Deep Water’ release and where can you watch it?

‘Deep Water’ was first slated to release in theatres and was in development for many years. The makers wanted the movie to come out in 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic struck and the release was delayed. Later, it was announced that the movie will make released in theatres on January 14, 2022. However, the makers eventually decided to release streaming services and will be making its way to Hulu on Friday, March 18.

Viewers can download the Hulu app from Google’s App Store and Apple’s App Store. Meanwhile, the streaming platform is available Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Fire tablets, Google Chromecast devices, Android TV, Google TV, and Mac.

What is ‘Deep Water’ all about?

The official synopsis reads, “Based on the celebrated novel by famed mystery writer Patricia Highsmith (‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’), “Deep Water” takes us inside the marriage of picture-perfect Vic (Ben Affleck) and Melinda (Ana de Armas) Van Allen to discover the dangerous mind games they play and what happens to the people that get caught up in them. As their mutual provocations and mind games escalate, things quickly turn into a deadly game of cat and mouse as Melinda’s extramarital dalliances start going missing.”

Who stars in Hulu’s psychological thriller?

Hollywood A-listers Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas are playing the lead roles of Vic and Melinda. Interestingly, the lead stars were dating each other when they were filming. The pair have split, but it will still be intriguing to see how their chemistry together is on screen.

Affleck needs no introduction and has been a part of numerous high-end ventures. He is known for his roles in 'Gone Girl' (2014) and playing Batman in both 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' (2016) and 'Justice League' (2017) including an appearance in 'Suicide Squad' (2016).

The actor has two Academy Awards, three Golden Globes, two BAFTAs, and two SAG Awards in his briefcase.

The other actors to feature in the movie include Tracy Letts (Lionel Washington), Lil Rel Howery (Nash Hall), Finn Wittrock (Damn Hart), Kristen Connolly (Jackie Connelly), and Rachel Blanchard (Maggie Connelly).

Based on the novel ‘Deep Water’ by Patricia Highsmith, the movie is directed by Adrian Lyne from a screenplay by Joe Penhall. The film is produced by Garrett Basch, Steven Zaillian, Guymon Casady, Ben Forkner, Arnon Milchan, and Anthony Katagas.
