Why did Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas break up? From moving in after wild gestures, family time to moving out
Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas who were first linked together in early 2020 have reportedly decided to go their separate ways according to multiple sources quoted by media reports. It is believed that de Armas was not happy being tied down to Los Angeles. However, it is also reported that the split has been 'mutually and amicably' decided by the two. A report in People confirmed the split after quoting several sources on Monday while others had hinted at the relationship going through a rough patch a couple of days ago.
Why did Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas breakup?
One source was quoted as saying, "Ben is no longer dating Ana," who continued, "She broke it off. Their relationship was complicated. Ana doesn't want to be Los Angeles based and Ben obviously has to since his kids live in Los Angeles."
Another source added, "This is something that was mutual and something that is completely amicable." The source further added, "They are in different points in their lives; there is deep love and respect there. Ben continues to want to work on himself. He has three jobs lined up and he’s a solid father at home. They are both happy with where they are in their lives."
A year or so of a whirlwind romance
The first time that the two stars had been linked was when they had gone on a vacation to de Armas' native Havana, Cuba, and later to Costa Rica before they headed to Los Angeles in early 2020. They were spotted walking hand in hand on the streets and sources had confirmed then that the two were definitely dating. The two of them had also worked together in the film 'Deep Water' for which they had been shooting in different parts of the US. The two actors also spent a lot of time together as the pandemic hit and de Armas continued to spend more time with Affleck and his three children -- daughters Violet, 14, and Seraphina, 11, as well as 8-year-old son Samuel -- whom he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. In fact, pictures of Affleck and de Armas with his mother had also gone viral in August when they had all spent some downtime together in Georgia and a source had confirmed, "They are spending a few days in Georgia with Ben's kids. It's a low-key vacation. Ana seems to love being around his kids. Everyone has been getting along great. Ana is making an effort to get to know his kids."
The 'Knives Out' actor had confirmed their relationship officially when she had posted a picture with Affleck on Instagram on May 1, 2020, which was a selfie and it was captioned, "Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes and love! Cheers to another great year."
This happened to be when the two of them had celebrated de Armas' 32nd birthday together. There is a picture of the two of them staring at a sunset together as well. The couple had first met on the sets of their film 'Deep Water' in New Orleans. After quarantining together, de Armas reportedly moved in with Affleck and even put her home in Venice, California, on the market. In fact, right before the move, it was reported that de Armas had gifted Affleck a customized BMW motorcycle built from scratch specifically for him.
