NBC’s latest offering ‘Debris’ has managed to keep the viewers at the edge of their seats for two weeks now and it seems people are liking the innovative storyline. The second episode of the sci-fi thriller ended with Agent Finola (Riann Steele) and Agent Bryan (Jonathan Tucker) being really concerned about stopping the effects of “Debris” on humankind. But most importantly keeping the alien wreckage out of the bad guys’ hands instead of studying it.

The show’s third episode sees both agents getting to know about a new phenomenon called ‘The Square’. The agents investigate the otherworldly square that has appeared in a field. However, the most shocking aspect of the square is that there are several people trapped inside it. So, how did they get inside the square? Is “Debris” responsible for all of this?

Who is Nicole Hegman?

During the first half of the episode, Finola is seen working inside the trailer when she suddenly hears a girl’s voice saying, “Can anybody hear me? I can see you. I can see your lights.” Bryan and Finola are stunned after hearing the voice and they get to know that the voices are coming from inside the square.

They try to see ‘The Square’ again and get lucky in communicating with the girl once again. Finola talks to her and asks her name. She says, “My name is Nicole Hegman.” Bryan checks through the records and finds that Nicole disappeared from a parking lot six months back.

Nicole also reveals that she can see everyone out there and wants them to help in getting out of this weird place. Due to some disturbance in the frequency, they lose the connection and Nicole disappears again.
The agents call her father and tell him that his daughter is alive and can be brought back if he helps them. However, they need one more important piece to solve the mystery. They need a piece of ‘Debris’ to bring her back.

Finola’s father, George Jones, highlighted several “access points” across the nation where people can travel “inter-galactically” if they come in contact with one of the access points. But they still need a piece of “Debris” to even manage to do that.

The agents and scientists find a giant piece of “Debris” near the woods and they decide to use it to communicate with the people inside the square. Through “Debris,” Finola manages to see Nicole.

Finola gets an idea of piercing the square with a piece of “Debris” to breach the square and get everyone out. The plan is successful and Nicole is finally out. Everyone is ecstatic to have her back, but they still don’t know how did she disappear.

How did she end up inside the square?

While talking to her father, Nicole states that she was just getting inside the car when she heard something. She turns around and walks toward the noise and suddenly finds herself inside the square. Nicole tries her luck to get outside, but she fails to do so. But now, she is back and the agents have actually put her inside a glasshouse to investigate if she is okay or she is carrying some radioactive material inside her body.

It will be interesting to see what kind of new things agents will learn about the square through Nicole. Also, are there more squares to be found across the country? We will have to wait for all these questions to be answered.

‘Debris’ returns to NBC with a new episode on Monday.
