LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: 'Dead Boy Detectives' premiered on Netflix on April 25, 2024.

The eight-episode-long series ends on a positive note as Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri) and Edwin Paine (George Rexstrew), the dead boy detectives along with Crystal Palace (Kassius Nelson) defeat the antagonist Esther Finch (Jenn Lyon).

The series tells the story of Charles and Edwin who are dead but choose to remain on earth and solve the unsolved supernatural mysteries. Through the course of the series, the two boys along with their friends Crystal and Niko (Yuyu Kitamura) solve the mysteries while trying to handle their pasts and fight off Esther.

So how did they finally defeat Esther? What happens to the characters at the end of the show? Here we address what happened at the end of 'Dead Boy Detectives'.

Crystal Palace who is about to leave for London alone to address her life from the past has to stop when she realizes that Esther Finch has attacked them and kidnapped Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine.

Crystal and Niko try to find a way to fight the witch, Esther, and ask the Cat King (Lukas Gage) for help. The Cat King helps them out by telling them Esther's backstory.

Esther has been blessed by Lilith (Rochelle Okoye) to never die and she finds a supernatural way to never age by feeding young girls to a hungry snake. Now, she has a device that helps her become powerful by inflicting pain on others. She uses Edwin to inflict pain on and become the most powerful person in Port Townsend.

Crystal and Niko then reach Tragic Mick (Michael Beach) who helps them with a bottle of black salt and a lucky charm which he gives to Niko.

Crystal tries to distract Esther while Niko tries to save Edwin. Charles tries to kill the hungry snake and take away Esther's powers. But the plan backfires as Esther is too powerful and negotiates the black salt easily. She is about to kill Crystal when Niko takes the hit and dies.

Crystal tells Lilth about Esther who has been feeding young children to the snake. Charles kills the Snake and Lilth kills Esther. As they mourn the death of Niko, Crystal decides to put her past behind her and becomes an official member of the Deadboy Detective Agency.

Before they leave, Edwin meets the Cat King and kisses him on the cheek. He tells the Cat King that he sees through the Cat King's loneliness and suffers from the same lonely feeling.

As Charles and Edwin reach London, they are confronted by Night Nurse (Ruth Connell) and her superior who lets them stay on earth in return for the work they have done as detectives.

However, she does have a surprise for them as she leaves the Night Nurse to work with them. With the history that the boys share with Night Nurse, this is going to be an interesting dynamic in the future.

Will Niko return from the dead?

The final shot of the series teases a return for Niko. The scene is of an igloo under the northern lights where the two sprites sit with a covered figure in the snow.

The covered figure carries the same lucky charm that Tragic Mick had given to Niko. This might be an indication of a possible return for Niko in a future season of the series.
