Spoilers for 'Criminal Record' Episode 5

LONDON, ENGLAND: June Lenker and Daniel Hagerty might be on the same side of the law, at least in appearances, but that has never been the case outside of work.

In 'Criminal Record' Episode 5 we see tensions rise, almost to a breaking point between the two, while major props go to Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo for doing complete justice to these roles.

Lenker's son is arrested with drugs in his backpack, with an "intent to sell," but the viewers, as well as Lenker herself are aware that these drugs were planted on him, and her mind immediately goes to Hagerty, and it is time for yet another showdown between the two.

After June Lenker's son, Jacob, is arrested, she realizes that she needs to take charge faster before Daniel Hagerty or anyone around him might her family again.

Miras Mansur, a criminal dealing in heroin becomes Lenker's key to try and get to Hagerty after she finds out that Hagerty is a regular at Mansur's business.

Without thinking too much, Lenker goes ahead and arrests Mansur, and while he's cuffed in the back of the car, she asks him to message Hagerty with a location, convinced that Mansur pulled his phone to message Hagerty after being arrested.

Lenker wasn't wrong as Hagerty does meet her and Mansur at said location, leading to a showdown between Hagarty and Lenker.

Why does June Lenker let Miras Mansur go?

Now this might come as a shock to some, but eventually, June Lenker doesn't go through with taking Miras Mansur to the station and actually have him arrested in 'Criminal Record' Episode 5.

Daniel Hagerty orders Lenker to let Mansur go, claiming he is a "trusted asset."

In addition to this, Lenker also has an outburst about her son Jacob, and how his DNA and record are in the system for a crime he did not commit.

Indirectly, yet almost directly, Hagerty lets Lenker know that is something that can be taken care of. In that moment, Lenker realizes she needs to do what's best for her son, even if that means letting go of Mansur.

While tensions rose and fell and more between Lenker and Hegarty in 'Criminal Record' Episode 5, it turns out that he was not responsible for planting the drugs in Jacob's backpack

'Criminal Record' Episode 5 is now streaming on Apple TV+
