Covid in Kpop: BTS V is latest idol to fall sick, fans pray for 'speedy recovery'
BTS members may be enjoying their much-needed break after a gruelling few years but a genuine issue that has been causing concern amongst fans is Covid-19. Every single day, South Korea reports tens of Covid-19 cases from the Korean Entertainment industry. On February 14 alone, K-pop idols like BTOB’s Eunkwang, Ateez’s San, Weekly’s Sujin as well as AB6IX’s Woojin reported having tested positive for the virus.
Now on the same day, the second youngest member of BTS, Kim Taehyung aka V reported having tested positive for Covid-19. It was reported that though V was in contact with the other members of BTS, the rest of them had all tested negative. Before V, Jimin was the last member who had tested positive for Covid after he was rushed to the hospital to receive surgery for acute appendicitis.

BTS V tests positive for Covid
Fans initially had rejoiced at the news of BTS' Jimin coming out of his surgery healthy as V himself shared a cute update with ARMYs on February 4. Now, days following Jimin's recovery, V has reportedly tested positive for Covid after experiencing mild cold symptoms too. The other members of BTS, namely Suga, RM, and Jin had initially tested positive for the coronavirus back in January of 2022 making V the fifth member out of the septet to contract Covid-19.
Late in the night, on February 15, HYBE, the agency that manages the activities of BTS announced that V (Tae-Hyung) visited the hospital after experiencing mild symptoms of sore throat. Upon having his PCR Test taken, BTS’ V had tested positive for Covid. The agency reported that V has already completed two doses of the Covid vaccine, he has no major symptoms other than a slight fever and a mildly sore throat.
All BTS members except V test negative
After V’s positive test reports, all six remaining members of BTS who were in close contact with the ‘Sweet Night’ singer as of February 12 took their preemptive tests for Covid as a precautionary measure and they all had negative test results. HYBE reported that when the seven BTS members met on February 12, all of them wore masks and avoided any physical contact which confirms that BTS members were following all health guidelines.
The label also reported that as their priority always will be the health and well-being of the artists, BTS V will faithfully cooperate with all health guidelines including quarantine measures. On the other hand, following their successful and restful holiday BTS had announced their upcoming concert in Seoul in March of 2022. This was after the success of their four-day concert event at SoFi Stadium in LA called ‘Permission to Dance on Stage’. This was held last year in late November and early December.
