BTS 'Stay Alive': Jungkook becomes first Korean Soloist to hit 10M streams on Spotify

With his first OST single, ‘Stay Alive’, Jungkook has become the first Korean solo artist to hit 10 million streams on Spotify in three days since its release

Jungkook of BTS may have called himself an international playboy as a joke one time but he should actually call himself an international record-breaker. The golden maknae of BTS has many things to be proud of but today in particular Jungkook celebrates breaking a new record. On February 14 it was announced that Jungkook’s first OST single, ‘Stay Alive’ that serves as a theme song for BTS’ latest webtoon ‘7 Fates: Chakho’ that was released on Naver in January of 2022 has surpassed 10 million streams on the global music network, Spotify.

Three days after the release of the new OST single from Jungkook has amassed a total of 10 million streams which is the first time something of this magnitude has happened from a K-pop solo artist on Spotify, globally. The OST single, ‘Stay Alive’ marks Jungkook’s first solo OST in Korean and second OST in general counting his Japanese single, ‘Your Eyes Tell’ for the 2020 movie of the same name. With ‘Stay Alive’, Jeon Jungkook has already amassed the title of breaking 14 records within 24 hours of the release of the song.

Jungkook hits 10 million streams on Spotify

While it is a solo venture for Jungkook as it may be, the song ‘Stay Alive’ is produced by Suga of BTS thus meaning that it is a joint venture between the duo. According to HYBE, not only did the first OST from Jungkook, ‘Stay Alive’ top the iTunes ‘Top Song’ charts in 100 countries and regions around the world but also topped the Bugs real-time chart while climbing to Number 3 on the Melon’s real-time chart amassing an all-kill on major domestic charts alongside iTunes.

In particular, the global music network, Spotify recorded that ‘Stay Alive’ entered the ‘Global Top 200’ playlist at Number 3. The song also amassed a total of 10 million streams on Spotify only three days after its release making Jungkook the first-ever Korean solo artist in the history of Spotify to ever do so. On the first day of its release alone, ‘Stay Alive’ hit 4,273,772 streams on Spotify making it one of the biggest releases on the platform.

Fans are congratulating the singer for achieving the title of being the Top Solo Artist on Spotify from South Korea as one fan said, "10M in only 3 days, first song by a korean male soloist to stay in top10 for 3 days! Only Stay alive did that, only Singer Jungkook and producer suga did that. My shoulders are high up in the sky. Immensely proud of them." Another fan said, "And army... i really want to be your singer forever." now, jungkook is the first korean male soloist to spend 3 days (debut) in the top 10 of the global spotify chart with "stay alive."
