Coachella 2022: BIGBANG's T.O.P slammed for 'erasing' Blackpink in 2NE1 appreciation post

BIGBANG's T.O.P has come under fire from Blinks for excluding Blackpink in his appreciation post for 2NE1's 2022 Coachella performance

While the BIGBANG fandom is enjoying the merits of the new comeback single, ‘Still Life’, and all of its achievements on charts and sales, the oldest member of the boy group has found himself in some hot water with Blinks. While we have all heard of fandom clashes, it is odd for fans of groups managed by the same label to clash so often. This, however, is not the case for YG Entertainment groups. Oftentimes there are multiple clashes between fans of iKON, Treasure, BIGBANG, and Blinks. On April 17, another such fan war started with Blinks calling out BIGBANG’s oldest member T.O.P.

BIGBANG made its debut in 2006 and over the years, the boy group's contribution to K-pop has been phenomenal, to say the least. So is the case for 2NE1, the girl group from YG Entertainment that was disbanded in 2016, but was one of the most famous girl groups of their time. The year 2016 also marked the beginning of Blackpink, which has since become the biggest girl group in K-pop history. Now, T.O.P is under fire for trying to "erase" Blackpink’s contribution to Coachella and crediting 2NE1 instead, which fans of the girl group think is uncalled for.

T.O.P hides ‘Blackpink’ but praises 2NE1

Back in 2019, Blackpink became the first-ever K-pop group to perform at Coachella, and made history for YG Entertainment. But, since then, the girl group has been performing on and off and chose to skip performing at the show with Jennie being the only member of the group to be spotted at the event. On the other hand, despite being disbanded, 2NE1 shocked the world with their 2022 Coachella performance, so much so that they got a shoutout from T.O.P on his Instagram story.

The BIGBANG member posted a photo of 2NE1 and Blackpink from a Twitter post where a fan compared the two acts being the only two K-pop girl groups to perform at Coachella. Only, T.O.P erased Blackpink’s name from the caption of the post which led fans of the girl group to drag him for discrediting Blackpink. Trolls have been bringing out T.O.P’s past controversies in this scenario while VIPs (fans of BIGBANG) have a different story to tell.

VIPs say that time and again, Blinks have accused BIGBANG of using Blackpink for clout, and which is why T.O.P, whose contract with YG Entertainment has expired, is only praising 2NE1 members, who are not a part of the YG family anymore. VIPs also mentioned that despite the rapper's attempt to keep Blackpink’s name out of his post, T.O.P is being dragged online because Blinks are confused about their stand themselves.

'Everyone is jealous of Blackpink's success' 

Blinks started calling out the BIGBANG member for his post as one user said, "Correct caption: BIGBANG T.O.P tries to shade BLACKPINK for no reason to get some attention since his multiple criminal charges happened." One more Blackpink fan commented, "Alternative: alcoholic and pathetic man keep trying to clout chase 4 succesful women while trying to praise 4 old hags." One fan posted, "I’m now more convinced that everyone in that damn company is jealous of bps success…" One user said, "I stan BIGBANG and am a VIP proudly, but T.O.P posting this and eraising BLACKPINK's name in order to highlight 2NE1 is COMPLETELY WRONG AND UNECESSARY. I'm sorry to BLINKS and BLACKPINK, this was indeed wrong."

'Blonks can't pick a struggle'

VIPs jumped in to defend the boy group. One fan said, "At this point I'm really getting tired w/ all this drama. If BP is excluded u get angry saying they are mistreated if they are included u still get angry saying they are using them for their fame." One fan said, "Why BLINKS are so mad to TOP just because he covered the name of Blackpink in his ig story? Have you BLINKS forgot that you also hated TOP just because he Support/Congratulated Blackpink in HYLT era? and say that its for clout only?!!! GET YOUR MIND STRAIGHT TOXIC FANS!"

One fan said, "TOP posting HYLT vid with his face: “STOP using BP for clout!!!!” TOP posting an edited screenshot with BP’s name erased: “Respect Blackpink” “T@nked” “Hag”. Blonks can’t pick a struggle." One fan wondered, "What if he T.O.P. censored the BLACKPINK's name since some blinks might though he added them for clout." One more fan said, "T.O.P posts about Blackpink on his IG account = blonks saying he is a clout chaser. T.O.P censors Blackpink's name = blonks saying he is bitter and a flop."
