'Chicago PD' Season 8 Episode 5: Are Burgess and Ruzek going to be parents? Fans call for reunion and adoption

The episode picks up where the lost little girl runs up to Burgess and the viewers find out if Mikayla gets adopted or not

Spoilers for 'Chicago PD' Season 8 Episode 5 'In Your Care'

In 'Chicago PD' Season 8 Episode 3 'Tender Age', we saw Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) find a child walking alone in the street. When they end up taking her home, they had found out that Mikayla's entire family had been murdered. The child even witnessed the murder.

Burgess ended being the first one to talk to the girl and while that caused a bit of discomfort due to her trauma with miscarriage in the last season, turns out both Mikayla and Burgess end up healing each other.

In 'In Your Care' episode, the little girl runs up to Burgess, whom she's clearly meant to be with. While we don't know if Ruzek and Burgess will end up together, Burgess will want to adopt Mikayla (thanks to the promo), so will the duo become parents?

People called for a reunion and an adoption

"Why won't y'all just put Ruzik and Burgess back together damn it?!!!  #ChicagoPD #OneChicago," wrote one fan. Another added, "I really like Kim Burgess to adopt Mickela!!!! @marinasqu @NBCChicagoPD @WolfEnt #ChicagoPD". Many ar really hoping for a reunion though, one user wrote, "#ChicagoPD I'm totally fine with Ruzek and Burgess getting back together! And good on Burgess for laying out exactly what she wants!"

Turns out that the little girl was not being picked up from school by her guardian a few time and so CPS was called; that's why she ran into Burgess. But, with how worked up the cop got, we would only assume that along with the help of the promo, an adoption is imminent — or at least a conversation about it.

The duo have a conversation about their lost baby, and how they have always been an "us". A fan wrote, "I love me a Ruzek/Burgess centric episode. #ChicagoPD #OneChicago". Another added, "The way they’re talking so openly about the miscarriage. How adult. They’ve matured sooo much. #ChicagoPD"

With such maturity, hopefully, comes acceptance and then maybe healing. We're really proud, as a fan wrote, "They are actually communicating If their younger selves could see them now #Burzek #ChicagoPD" But, it's great to see that Burgess storyline is being welcomed. A viewer wrote, "This is fate. Kim gotta adopt Mikayla or we riot at dawn #ChicagoPD." 

Burgess finds out from Mikayla's guardian Kathy that she can't do it anymore, and Burgess already saw the pills. The little girl is with DCFS, and while Burgess tries to help Kathy understand that she could be a good mom, but to no avail. Kathy tries to put Burgess in her place asking her who she is. If there was any time that Burgess would want to adopt the little girl, it would be now.
