BTS’ Papa bear, Bang PD, receives honorary doctorate, fans say, ‘now its Bang PhD’
HYBE labels is home for creators and geniuses and BTS maker and the founder of HYBE (formerly Big Hit Entertainment) Bang Si-hyuk well known as Bang PD or the ‘Father of BTS’ is one of these genius creators. Bang PD was the one responsible for the creation and growth of BTS and now, as he retires from being the CEO of HYBE labels, seems like the producer is using the time on his hands well.
On April 28 it was reported that Bang PD was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from Seoul National University and fans have been celebrating the title ever since the news about it was first released. It has been reported that Bang PD (Bang Si-hyuk) was awarded an honorary doctorate degree for his contribution to the expansion and innovation of the Korean culture and arts industry.

Bang PD becomes 12th South Korean citizen to receive an honorary doctorate from SNU
The SNU (Seoul National University) Graduate School Dean Choi said, “Chairman Bang Si-hyuk played a major role in developing Korea's K-pop into the world’s best popular culture. We highly appreciate his achievements.” It should be noted that the Seoul National University awards an ‘Honorary Doctorate’ only to those individuals who have made special contributions to academic development or made great achievements in the improvement of human culture.
Ever since its establishment in 1946, Seoul National University has only awarded the honorary doctoral degree to a total of 112 individuals among which are global cultural representative figures like former South African President Nelson Mandela as well as Myanmar state adviser Aung San Suu Kyi.
Out of the 112 awardees, only 12 have been South Korean citizens including Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee in 2000, novelist Park Wan-seo in 2006, and former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in 2008.

Fans are ecstatic about Bang PD’s achievements so much so that they have started calling him “Bang PhD”. What a detailed,” and another fan said, “Had to be purple. Nothing less would do.” One fan said, “Bang PD paved the way for LSM.”
