Fans had been waiting to see BTS' J-Hope set the stage on fire with his first ever solo headlining the event and looks like the rapper did just that. On July 31, J-Hope attended The Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago, Illinois, as the first-ever Korean soloist and performed songs from his solo album 'Jack In The Box' which was released in July.

The BTS member took the stage and owned it despite the language barrier. Ever since it was announced that J-Hope would be headlining the main show at Lollapalooza, fans have dubbed the music festival "Hobipalooza" after J-Hope's nickname - Hobi. The festival also saw BTS labelmates TXT perform on stage on July 30, 2022, which marks the boy group's first international music festival performance.

J-Hope gets emotional at The Lollapalooza Festival

To support his hyung (older brother) J-Hope and dongsaengs (younger brothers) TXT, BTS Jimin attended the two days of the Lollapalooza Festival. During his ending segment, J-Hope thanked fans for attending the show and greeted them saying, "It's my first time speaking in Korean after nearly an hour. Hi guys, it's J-Hope. This is a very meaningful moment for me." He explained how he worked on his solo album saying, "The course of this album which was started from my desire and fierce aspiration is coming to a grand finale. All of the schedules that I participated in through this album have become my blood and flesh."

J-Hope continued, "As I perform at Lollapalooza today and look at ARMYs and the local audience, I feel like I've found a strong and solid rhythm." J-Hope then said, "I don't know what to say. It's a huge honor and I'd like to thank the many people who came here."

He explained, "To be honest, these schedules had been scaring me for a while but despite that, I feel like it's a significant moment. A bit embarrassed to say this, but, I want to say that I'm proud of myself for making it through this moment."

J-Hope livestreams with Jimin

At the festival, singer Becky G appeared on stage as she performed 'Chicken Noodle Soup', their 2019 collab single at the Lollapalooza stage. She explained to fans how she was extremely proud of J-Hope and stated how performing on stage meant so much to her as she was to be able to perform on stage with the rapper. Becky concluded by saying, 'Thank you so much to our fans and to you bro." J-Hope hugged Becky saying, "Thank you so much, we made it."

Now that the show has ended, J-Hope took to VLive to thank fans for attending the show and shared his feelings about headlining the music festival as a solo artist for the first time. Joining him, BTS' Jimin also joined the live stream and praised J-Hope for giving away a stellar performance for fans who had been waiting for the rapper to host the music festival. During the live stream, J-Hope addressed Jimin as his "light" when he was on stage. Moreover, Jimin praised J-Hope's performance saying, "I'm not saying this just to compliment you but you were so cool. Today, I watched you as a fan and you killed it."
