BTS’ newest single, ‘Permission to Dance’ was received with much fanfare as the K-pop boy group released it yesterday, July 9th. With more than a million people waiting to see the music video and getting it to 2 million views in 5 minutes of its release, the track was off to a great start. Though the English song is not part of any comeback, it is part of the ‘Butter’ CD along with their May release, ‘Butter’.

Co-written by Ed Sheeran, ‘Permission to Dance’ is a feel-good song with a retro vibe reminiscent of the '80s. The music video has the boys dressed up as if they’re in the Wild West and dancing in quaint and rustic settings. As RM put it, they didn’t have any deep meaning behind the track. They just wanted a fun song that listeners could enjoy and forget their worries for a while.

BTS  breaks records with 'Permission to Dance'

Well, looks like they succeeded. Fans from all over the world loved the song and got it topping the iTunes Top Songs Chart in 92 countries in a day. The dance-pop song also did well on YouTube as its music video got more than 68 million views in the first 24 hours. Even the likes on the music video reached 6 million. It also entered the top 10 on several reputable Korean charts like MelOn and at #1 on Genie and Bugs. ARMY is hoping to take the numbers to 100 million by urging all fans to stream.

However, what caught everyone’s eye was the first day of sales. Even though 'Butter' was released in May and has been heard by fans, the sale of the CD did quite well. The 'Butter' CD which consists of 'Butter', 'Permission to Dance' and their instrumental versions was available for sale on July 9th. According to Hanteo Chart which is a real-time music chart for South Korea, the CD had more than 1.7 million sales on the first day.

According to Hanteo, BTS also happens to be the only K-pop group to have had a million sales in just a day. Previously, their albums, 'Map of the Soul: Persona' reached the achievement in four hours while 'Map of the Soul: 7' did it in an hour. The 'Butter' CD is still a new record for them since it's not even a full studio album but just a single album to have sold a million copies in less than a day.

Not only that, Gaon Chart, another Korean music chart, states that according to their data, 'Butter' sold more than 2 million copies on July 9. While we don't know if they mean the single or the CD, we shall know about the actual total sales in the coming week which is bound to break all kinds of records.

One fan tweeted, “And that on our K diamonds Who's doing it like them?” Another ARMY tweeted, “Bts fr glowing in permission to dance from pure happiness it makes me happy to witness it.” One fan tweeted, “I'm not good with words, but thank you for this good music and the lyrics areeeeee :"((( so comforting and it puts a smile on our faces.” Another tweeted, “Just another day in the house of Bangtan.” Summing up what the ARMY had to say, one wrote: "I can literally feel the JOY in this clip they put the SUNSHINE in ~International Pop-K Sensation Sunshine Rainbow Traditional Transfer USB Hub Shrimp BTS~ #PermissiontoDance."
