Bangtan Boys to 'Bangtan Papas': RM charms ARMY with BTS' role in 'redefining masculinity'
BTS RM is confident in BTS's transformation from Bangtan Boys to Bangtan Papas and Bangtan Grandpas and ARMY is swooning hard at the group's wish to go from BTS to BTP! In an exclusive interview with Jaeki Cho for Amazon Music, BTS candidly spoke about their future plans, breaking the seven-year curse of K-pop, making music without feeling the 'pressure' and more.
BTS in 2021 is undoubtedly the biggest group of musicians in the world. The Grammy-nominated South Korean music group has not only broken the language barrier making Korean songs and albums rank atop at all global music charts, but also contributed to conversations regarding gender discriminations, self-love, how music can unite nations worldwide and comfort the ones in need. In the recent interview, RM addressed the much-talked-about notions of how K-pop has redefined gender and BTS' 'positive influence' in that.

RM wants Bangtan Boys to be 'Bangtan Papas'
From BTS to BTP, Bangtan Boys have always shared their wish to make music for a long time and in the latest Amazon Music interview, RM reiterated their plans saying they want Bangtan Boys to be Bangtan Papas or even Bangtan Grandpas. Jungkook added that they want to keep making music even after twenty years. He said: "'I'm not sure about dancing but I'd definitely like to keep singing!," and Taehyung chimed in quipping, but possibly perform from a couch as their bodies won't co-operate with the dance moves. The 'Mono' crooner also gushed how BTS has successfully overcome the 7-years-limit in K-pop and Jin admitted, "When we first started, I was honestly concerned about how we'd last for seven years being such different people, but I think the differences turned into a synergy for us to fill in the gap for each other."

BTS' 'positive influence' in redefining masculinity
BTS as well as K-pop as a whole has been playing a crucial role in redefining gender constructs. From choosing gender-neutral brands to donning skirts and more, BTS has shattered the boundaries of gender from the time they were greenhorns. When asked about their role in redefining masculinity, RM said, "We didn't have the intention to redefine masculinity or the manly, but it feels good that we can have this positive effect or influence to any categories." He added, “We’re living in a time where labels like ‘masculinity’ are vanishing!”
