'Lalisa' music video reaches 70.4 million YouTube views making it the most-watched music video by a soloist

Looks like we are in the ‘Lalisa’ era. Blackpink’s youngest member was the third member to go solo. Lisa had her solo debut on September 10 with the release of her first single album ‘Lalisa’. And before she performed the single for the first time on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, ‘Lalisa' broke several records by making YouTube history and sweeping charts. The official stats will be released by YouTube later but diligent fans have discovered that Lisa has made history.

Lisa topped several charts including iTunes in more than 65 countries and was the #1 artist on MelOn’s Female Solo Artist Chart. ‘Lalisa’ is also #2 on US iTunes which is difficult to top. It is also the fastest music video by a female soloist to surpass 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 million views. But that’s not it. ‘Lalisa’ made YouTube history by reaching 70.4 million YouTube views in the first 24 hours of its release. This makes it the most viewed music video in 24 hours of its release by any solo artist ever. And she made her solo TV debut on the American late-night show ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’.

Lisa performs on 'Jimmy Fallon'

While Blackpink as a whole appeared on ‘Jimmy Fallon’ last year in June, this is Lisa’s first TV performance for ‘Lalisa’. Blinks and Lilies were excited as Lisa appeared in a bejeweled bodysuit and sleek white pants. Since Lisa is known to be one of the best dancers of K-pop, netizens had earlier criticized the choreography seen in ‘Lalisa’ music video as too simple and easy. Well, she proved them wrong by going hard in the debut performance of ‘Lalisa’ with a smooth yet intricate choreography.

Lisa had previously mentioned in a press conference that she wanted those who saw her comeback video to say that “this is something only Lisa can do.” And that is exactly what the Thai-born idol did. With a fierce expression, Lisa incorporates graceful hand movements along with the energetic hip-hop moves we often see in her YouTube dance series.

One fan listed all of her first day achievements and simply tweeted, “Proud.”
