'Lazy idol' Blackpink's Jennie trolled for dancing lethargically during 'Shut Down' live performance

Trolls claimed that Jennie has resumed her lethargic idol attitude despite being called out for her 'lazy dancing' during previous Blackpink live performances

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: Blackpink's Jennie is perhaps the most talked-about K-pop idol at present, be it her comeback with the girl group, her rumored relationship with BTS V (Kim Taehyung), or her upcoming Hollywood debut with the HBO Original show 'The Idol'. Despite all the buzz, Jennie is facing backlash over her live performances. Over the years, Jennie has been called out for being a "lazy performer" where she was seen putting the least amount of effort or energy into her live stage performances with Blackpink.

In the past, there have been many performance compilations where fans pointed out that Jennie was never able to give her 100 percent on stage and appeared the most disinterested during Blackpink's live stage performances. Now, a new allegation against Jennie has surfaced after she was seen performing Blackpink's new single 'Shut Down' from their second full-length album called 'Born Pink'. Blackpink performed 'Shut Down' for the first time on ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', a talk show hosted by famous late-night host Jimmy Kimmel. After which, fans started pointing out how Jennie had resumed her lazy idol attitude where she is seen putting little to no energy at all in her performances.

Fans defend Jennie on her low-energy live performances

In a Nate Pann community post, a fan pointed out that Jennie's live performance for 'Shut Down' from 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' was rather low on energy in comparison to her choreography performance. The user said, "This is their first comeback 2 years after their last comeback and Jennie is still the same/ Jennie tries to look hip by skipping all the choreography."

More fans pointed out that Jennie indeed appeared to be lazy during the performance as one said, "Worry about Jennie being lazy in 2022 and start saving up for that oxygen tank for her sis is struggling with ONE song when word tour is near."

One fan said, "Is she okay she has no stage presence." One more fan said, "Jennie has been a lazy dancer for over 3 years i have to respect the consistency."

Another fan said, "Just watched BP performance on Jimmy kimmel.. Seriously, it is time YG has a serious conversation with jennie about her lazy and appalling performance on stage.. This is getting serious and it is no longer a joking matter.. It is like she doesn't even care at all at this point."

One more fan said, "Lisoo made jennie look like she's lazy.. they put her all the time center but she couldn't move like the girls she looked so lazy. All the world knows jennie like she is the worst dancer in bp lazy.. make mistakes in stage omg."

'They are jealous of Jennie Kim'

However, fans are not having it as they defended the idol by stating how she was not lipsyncing like most idols and was actually rapping during the performance. Blinks (fans of Blackpink) stated that Blackpink is not a performance-centric K-pop group and it is not important for the girls to give out high-energy performances as they focus on their rapping and singing skills. One fan said, "As long as Jennie isn't lipsyncing, it's not a problem." Another fan said, "She might have moved less but she had swag and attitude = typical YG."

One more fan said, "Watching blackpink live performance and during rap parts that's how jennie perform since rookie era. idk why anti needs manipulate every move of her and manipulate it. maybe needs to worried about ur own favo who's lipsync instead."

One fan said, "It's still 2022 and kpop stans will never understand jennie kim stage presence since their faves lack A LOT." Another fan said, "The way Jennie ate her rap part .. I mean it's live and she didn't even miss one word and her flow her pronunciation...People are dragging this performance.. this only means they are jealous and insecure of Jennie Kim."
