Blackpink Jennie spotted in teaser of HBO's 18+ show 'The Idol', fans say 'Euphoria vibes'

The show, which will have NSFW scenes, will also star The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp

Just as fans were gearing up for the long-awaited Blackpink comeback, news about Jennie making her solo debut seems to have caught Blinks' (fans of Blackpink) attention. It was recently announced that Blackpink would be releasing their new album in August 2022, close to two years since the release of their first full-length album, 'The Album', which dropped in October of 2020. With members of the girl group already filming the music video for their title track, fans are already preparing their streaming goals as they plan to break many records with the upcoming comeback.

Now, a lot more attention is paid to Blackpink after Jennie was spotted in the trailer for a Hollywood show which will mark her acting debut outside of being a K-pop idol. On July 17, the trailer for the 2022 HBO original show 'The Idol' dropped where fans noticed idol Jennie turn into an actor but a lot more attention is being paid to the fact that the show could be NSFW where only fans over the age of 18 will be eligible to watch Jennie act for the first time.

Jennie to make her acting debut with HBO's 'The Idol'

The HBO original show, 'The Idol', stars American singer The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) in the lead role with actor Johnny Depp's daughter, Lily-Rose Depp as well as singer Troye Sivan in main roles. Blackpink's Jennie appeared in the 30-second trailer, teasing and inviting fans to watch the show. The show is co-produced and directed by Sam Levinson who is also known for directing the HBO show 'Euphoria'. According to HBO, the six-episode drama is “set against the backdrop of the music industry and centers on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol.”

While the show could be laden with a lot of controversies, for now, fans are looking forward to what role Jennie will be playing in 'The Idol'. From the looks of it, Jennie will only be appearing in a supporting role or a cameo in the upcoming HBO original. Not only that, but fans are talking about how the show is catered to adults and will probably feature a lot of profanity and sex scenes. Even in the 30-second-long teaser, fans were able to catch a glimpse of a couple having sex while actors were spotted ingesting drugs. Watch the recent teaser for 'The Idol' here.

Knowing that the Blackpink Jennie-starrer show is directed by Sam Levinson who has directed the 2019, 18+ rated show 'Euphoria', fans are sharing their feelings about 'The Idol'. One fan said, "Blinks watching the idol for Jennie only to get flashed with dicks and balls every 5 minutes." They added, "Y’all not ready this is a SAM LEVINSON production." One more fan said, "It's giving euphoria." A fan said, "It looks so unserious ngl but still gonna tune in for jennie." Another fan added, "EUPHORIA VIBES." One fan said, "Yeah nope, definitely not looking forward to that part."
