Benson Boone was probably the biggest star and the only known performer on 'American Idol' Season 19. Maybe that's why he was the first contestant to open the season and he did it with an intense cover of Aidan Martin's 'Punchline'. Katy Perry had said, "they're going to swoon over Benson Boone" and turns out she wasn't wrong. Ever since the Hollywood round last week, 'Idol' fans have been asking about Benson's absence and we've told you that before, but we'll jog the memories of his fans one more time.

According to sources, Benson did perform in the showstopper round and made it to the Top 24 but later on pulled himself out of the competition, and replacing him was Anilee List. Benson was completely missing from last week's episodes but there are still hopes for his fans that he'll possibly be making his final appearance on Monday, March 29th episode. But this will only be confirmed once the episode airs. Continue reading below to know what Benson Boone has been up to after quitting 'Idol' and about his present and future collaborations.

Why did Benson Boone quit 'American Idol'?

Katy Perry had told Benson that he could be the winner of the season if he believed in his own strengths. However, he withdrew his claim to end up on top on the reality show and it was confirmed that Anilee replaced him. "Confirmed: Benson Boone withdrew from the American Idol Season 19 Top 24 and was replaced, making him only the 2nd semi-finalist (or finalist) in American Idol history to do so, with the 1st being Mario Vazquez who withdrew from the AI4 Top 12," a tweet from The Idol Spoilers read. In a follow-up tweet they wrote, " Confirmed: Anilee List made the AI19 Top 24 as a result of Benson's withdrawal, either as a conventional replacement or by invalidating the need for a duel between her and another contestant on the list."
