ATHENS, GREECE: In the latest episode of 'Below Deck Mediterranean' Season 9, Captain Sandy Yawn criticized bosun Iain Maclean for promoting Joe Bradley to lead deckhand instead of Nathan Gallagher, despite Nathan having more experience.

The tense confrontation between the captain and bosun highlighted the importance of making sound leadership decisions and ensuring that the most qualified individuals are given the appropriate roles on deck. Yawn's criticism served as a reminder of the high standards expected on board and the necessity for accountability in all aspects of yacht operations.

Sandy asked Iain for his rationale behind choosing a lead deckhand, to which he replied, "I chose Joe as lead deckhand in the beginning because he just has experience and he is very good at guiding people. He's just good aat running the team."

Sandy was surprised to learn that Joe had been chosen for the task, expressing her belief that Nate was more skilled, particularly noting his ability to dock the boat multiple times. She pointed out that Joe's strong communication skills might have influenced the perception of his abilities. Sandy suggested that it might be necessary to reassess both experience and capabilities.

"This is clearly on Iain's part. He should have informed me before making this decision. Joe in the last few dockings I always had to correct him, if Iain would have taken the time to read the CVs, he would have seen that Nathan has a lot more experience than Joe. That's a red flag," Sandy shared in a confessional.

Sandy advised Iain to consult with her in the future before making decisions. She emphasized her trust in Nate's expertise in docking, contrasting it with Joe's relative lack of experience. Sandy thanked Iain for his understanding and cooperation.
