‘Below Deck Med’ Season 9 captain Sandy Yawn calls out bosun Iain Maclean
ATHENS, GREECE: During the most recent episode of 'Below Deck Mediterranean' Season 11, Captain Sandy Yawn expressed her displeasure when deckhand Nathan Gallagher and a charter guest named Laura veered far off course while out at sea.
This mishap led Captain Sandy to question Bosun Iain Maclean's ability to properly supervise the crew, as he had failed to keep a close eye on the duo. Eventually, another boat came in and helped to retrieve Nathan and Laura and bring them back to the Mustique.
When Nathan and Laura were in the water, lead deckhand, Joe Bradley mentioned, “He’s on a paddleboard. Manning the platform.” In the blink of an eye, the two of them drifted away too far away at sea.
Then, primary charter guest Gigi Fernandez informed Captain Sandy that some random sailboats had picked up one of the guests. Sandy Yawn expressed her disappointment and embarrassment over the entire situation.
"This doesn’t make me happy. This is embarrassing," Sandy said.
In a confessional, Sandy emphasized the importance of always having two people watching the guests and holding Iain accountable for delegating this responsibility. She stressed the need to prioritize the safety and supervision of the guests, especially when they are in the water on any water toy.
“I’m not happy. Always have your eyes on the guests. Guests are in the water on any toy, and one person in the tender follows them always. Make them a priority. That’s it. Go apologise to Gigi," Sandy told Iain.
