Iain, a native of Cape Town, South Africa, was born on March 21. With five years of experience in the yachting industry, he brings a wealth of expertise to his role. According to his Bravo profile, Iain loves to spend his time "going to the gym, hiking, kloofing, surfing, jolling, music festivals, hanging out with friends and family, and going to the beach."
The Bravo show Bosun also has a suggestion for the ole motor yacht Mustique. He suggested that the yacht "need of some good maintenance, but [that it's] a good-sized strong ship with solid bones." Iain enjoys working in "Ponza and Palmarola, Italy." Despite his public role, the Bravo star has chosen to keep his personal life and social media private.

Iain has shared with Bravo that his job "surprises most people that aren't in the industry." Known as a team player, he enjoyed working for Captain Sandy Yawn and even captured one of her life's most memorable moments—her proposal to Leah Shafer.
'Below Deck Mediterranean' Season 9 bosun Iain Maclean slammed for 'Micromanaging'
In the teaser of 'Below Deck Mediterranean' Season 9, Iain Maclean appeared to have trouble handling his crew. He was seen giving orders to a deckhand, who seemed to be following through with his commands.
However, Nathan Gallagher seemed to have an objection to Iain's way of handling things on the yacht and shared his frustrations with his boss. He admitted in the confessional, "Micromanaging, it’s f*****g annoying." The scene then shifts to Iain speaking into his walkie-talkie to Captain Sandy.
The Bravo show Bosun said, "There's no boat on our port side." However, Captain Sandy argued for him to "look before you talk. Give me the clearance." Things heated up with Nathan further saying, "It's a f*****g disaster."
'Below Deck Mediterranean' Season 9 will premiere on Monday, June 3, at 9 pm ET on Bravo. New episodes will also be available to stream on Peacock the next day.
