Spoilers for 'Beef' Episode 6

LOS GATOS, CALIFORNIA: Netflix's 'Beef' does not beat around the bush in any matter. So far, the extreme emotions of the leads, Amy Lau (Ali Wong) and Danny Cho (Steven Yeun) are shown slowly building up from the road rage incident. The sixth episode is titled, 'We Draw a Magic Circle', and the episode follows the aftermath of Fumi (Patti Yasutake), the mother-in-law of Amy falling down the stairs after she tried to stop the attempted robbery at Amy's house.

Amy is then confronted by her neighbour friend, Naomi (Ashley Park), who accuses her of the road rage incident, but the former denies it. Blast from the past

Episode 6 introduced a shocking twist of events to the plotline with this revelation. Amy being the ex of Danny makes us reevaluate the whole story altogether. Both of them are more or less in a similar state emotionally throughout the series and this revelation just increased the level of emotional tension. So, when Amy meets up with Danny, she asks him to take the fall for the road rage incident as Naomi is closing in on her and she wanted to close the deal with Jordan (Maria Bello).

Exes are your worst enemy

Amy offers $25,000 for Danny to cover up the incident and puts forth a reason that reflects her character perfectly. Amy asserts that she supports small businesses as she runs one and diminishes Danny's contracting business as a micro-business. She uses this argument to make a point that she cannot be accused of any crimes and that Danny should take the entire blame. Regardless of how unfair it may seem, Amy used the poor and vulnerable state of Danny perfectly and manipulated him into agreeing to this unfair deal. Moreover, Danny, who was in desperate need of the money accepts the deal.

Amy's understanding of how Danny's mind works has given her a much-needed win. However, when Naomi backs out of her crime theory, Amy revokes the deal with Danny, causing to get frustrated further. No matter what the deal is, Amy always had an upper hand over her ex. Another important thing to be noted here is the lingering theme that follows the entire series when Amy tries to bury her past intentionally. Yet, the plan seems not to be working out well for her as she voluntarily or involuntarily gets entwined with the very past that she tries to escape from.
