LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brendan Fraser has made a stunning comeback to cinema with a phenomenal performance in Darren Aronofsky’s ‘The Whale’. As soon as the movie had its world premiere at this year’s Venice International Film Festival, Fraser was considered to be a frontrunner for the Best Actor accolade and there are a lot of chances that he might take home the Oscar as well. A lot of people are hoping to see him win the trophy and most of all, the directors of ‘Batgirl’ want to see him win the award so that it can help in reviving the shelved DC movie.

In August 2022, Warner Bros. stunned everyone when it announced that ‘Batgirl’ will not be moving forward and won’t be part of their calendar anymore, meaning the movie has been axed and will not be released anywhere. The directors of the movie, Adil El Arbi, and Bilall Fallah, were left heartbroken after the news surfaced online. However, they lost all hope of making a ‘Batgirl’ movie when they were barred from accessing the film footage. Since then, fans have been rallying behind the directors and requesting the production giant to start the production again. Even though there’s a little chance of the movie getting revived, a win for Fraser at the Academy Awards might give WB a reason to make the movie again.

In a recent interview with Variety, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah opened up about working with ‘The Mummy’ star, revealing that the character played by Fraser was ‘memorable’ and people would have loved seeing him as a villain.

“He is so, so talented. The way he played that character… It was one of the most memorable villains, so we’ll see. Maybe when he wins his Oscar they’ll want to show the movie,” El Arbi and Fallah told Variety.

Fraser was set to play the role of Ted Carson in the DC Universe movie. The character was supposed to be a disgruntled veteran who elects to take his anger out on Gotham City by turning into a sociopath who has an uncontrollable impulse to start fires and people start calling him ‘Firefly’.

Although the resurrection of ‘Batgirl’ might be a little impossible because the filming was still in the first stage and a lot of work had to be done to complete the production. Fraser’s victory might be a compelling point for WB to green-light the movie again, but it’s not the only thing that would be needed for the production giant to start the film again.

As far as Fraser is concerned, he is slowly gathering momentum for being a frontrunner for the Best Actor accolade. It’s truly one of the most remarkable performances of his career and makes sure that his character conveys how regretful he is for making some decisions in his life.
