LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It is no secret that the teen drama series, 'Euphoria' is the fourth most-watched series in HBO history, which is of course behind 'Game of Thrones,' Pedro Pascal 'The Last of Us,' and lastly Matt Smith's 'House of the Dragon. Considering 'Euphoria's vast popularity one would self-doubt before quitting the series however, Barbie Ferreira is not one of them. Ferreira announced last August that she was moving on from 'Euphoria' and would no longer star as Kat Hernandez although there was a lot of drama which was stirred following her exit as reports surfaced that she clashed with 'Euphoria' creator Sam Levinson during Season 2 due to the direction of her character. Fans noticed Kat’s storyline was sidelined in Season 2, and one rumor claimed she even walked off-set during a fight with Levinson. Nevertheless, one can't deny that Ferreira had become an overnight star after she was seen starring in the Zendaya-led HBO series, along with Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney. 'I overstayed my welcome'

'Faces of Death' actor Barbie Ferreira opened up on the 'Armchair Expert' podcast about exiting the Emmy-winning HBO series ahead of Season 3. “When people ask me about season two, they come at me like I was some sort of victim,” she said. “I’m always, like, No, it’s okay, promise. It’s good. I kind of got sucked into this drama that I never asked to be in and that I’ve never talked about. Don’t believe everything you read.” “I don’t think there was a place for her to go,” the actress says at one point during the podcast. “I mean, I think that there were places you could go. I just don’t think it would have fit into the show. I don’t know if it was gonna do her justice. And I think both parties knew that. I really wanted to be able to not be the fat best friend. I don’t want to play that and I think they didn’t want that either.”

Ferreira added that if the opportunity was there and depending on what material she would’ve been working with, she would have continued to play Kat “for as long as I was asked.” But right now, the ensemble’s size, Levinson’s own writing interests, and her vision for Ferreira complicated things too much. “I felt [it] was a kind of a struggle for both parties. Sam, me — it was a struggle to find a continuation of her,” the actress explained. “That was actually really hurtful watching and seeing the fans get upset. “I don’t know. I just felt like maybe I overstayed my welcome a little bit. So for me it actually felt good to be like, ‘OK, I get to not worry about this and we both don’t get to worry about this,'” she continued, “because Sam writes for things he relates to. I don’t think he relates to Kat. I relate to Kat. So I had to follow my own path.”

When is 'Euphoria' Season 3 dropping?

Although Ferreira will not be part of the upcoming season however, 'Euphoria' Season 3 is set to go into production later this year for a probable 2024 return to HBO. The HBO series, 'Euphoria' follows teenagers in the fictional town of East Highland, California, who seek hope while balancing the strains of love, loss, and addiction. Topics such as child abuse, drug abuse, toxic relationships, toxic positivity, hookup culture, social media, mental illness, codependency, infidelity, relapsing, repressed homosexuality, sobriety, human trafficking, domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, toxic masculinity, drug dealing, dating violence and grief are explored.
