Internet divided as HBO to reboot 'Harry Potter' as TV series without JK Rowling as showrunner
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The President and CEO of Warner Bros Discovery Davis Zazlav had confirmed his plans to revisit many popular franchises and create their reboot series at HBO. The confirmed reboot was of 'Harry Potter' and 'Lord of the Rings.' Now, the reports are surfacing that 'Harry Potter' is in works at HBO Max and will soon be gracing us with its wizardly presence.
The series would reportedly consist of seven seasons, keeping in mind there are seven books published by JK Rowling. So, each season will be a direct reflection of each book. Apparently, JK Rowling will be involved in the production, to "ensure it remains loyal to her original material," but she is not expected to be appointed as showrunner. While there is no confirmation from HBO about this project yet, many reports have covered this information.

Bringing back the classics
Creating a reboot for 'Harry Potter' would surely make fans excited, but the question that arises is that if it would do justice to the books and the movies? And not appointing JK Rowling as a showrunner might sabotage the authenticity of the vision she has for the movie. As fans are quite excited about the fact that their childhood favourite is getting a reboot, some are bringing up questions that point towards the autheticity and vision of the showrunner for the series.
'It's gonna be the Hogwarts Legacy Controversy'
Fans seem happy about the idea of 'Harry Potter' coming back, but the idea of JK Rowling not being a showrunner has the Internet debating if the move is proper. One user said, "It's gonna be the Hogwarts Legacy Controversy all over again now... Except it's the HBO Reboot," while another user pointed out the obvious and wrote, "Remake after reboot after prequel after spinoff, it just never ends. EVERY franchise needs to be revived now. It’s sad." While another user pointed out that Rowling is the vision behind the books so she has the rights to be the showrunner and wrote, "It's her universe and she holds the rights. So she has the say." Another user made a racial remark and wrote, "THANK GOD SHE IS INVOLVED AND THANK GOD WE ARE NOT GETTING A BLACK HARRY CANT WAIT FOR THIS MASTERPIECE," one user chimed in with, "hell yeah! gonna be an insane show! can’t wait for everyone to freak out about it so it gets more publicity then do really well like hog warts legacy."
