Astro gets new subunit with Rocky and Jinjin after Moonbin and Sanha's subunit debut
The six members of Astro made their debut in 2016 but over the past few years, the members of the group are branching out into solo activities or pairing off for projects. The members of Astro are all experimenting with their careers be it Eunwoo with his acting gigs, MJ with his trot singing or Moonbin and Sanha, the group's first sub-unit, releasing dual projects. Now, two more members of Astro will make their sub-unit debut in January of 2022 with the release of their first mini-album.

Rocky and Jinjin subunit
Both members, Rocky and Jinjin are already active in Astro as the main rappers of the group. Arohas (Astro fandom) are already excited about the colorful debut of the ‘funky duo’ that will see Rocky and Jinjin showcase their unique vocal styles. Both members reportedly participated in writing and composing several songs on the upcoming album.
To tease and announce the sub-unit debut, Fantagio Entertainment released a teaser image, bursting with kitschy charm with colorful splashes of navy blue and green — the colors that Arohas associate with Jinjin and Rocky. The teaser shows two cartoonish characters both representing the two members with diametrically opposite facial expressions, raising curiosity about the new album's themes and overall concept. Jinjin & Rocky's first mini-album ‘Restore’ will be released on various online music sites at 6 pm KST (4 am ET) on January 17, 2022.

Astro’s subunit journey
Back in August of 2020, Fantagio confirmed that members Moonbin and Sanha would form Astro's first sub-unit called ‘Moonbin & Sanha’ The duo released their first EP ‘In-Out’ in September last year and their collab was blessed by music show wins. Both Moonbin and Sanha set the record for fastest subunit to receive their first win on a music show, within eight days after the release of the album. The album as well as its lead single, ‘Bad Idea’ also charted well on popular ranking lists.
Following the success of 'Moonbin & Sanha', Arohas are excited to see Jinjin & Rocky perform together as a rap duo. With that, the only sub-unit fans can expect in the future are the vocal members of Astro, MJ and Eunwoo. Astro has released the comeback schedule for Jinjin and Rocky's first EP, 'Restore'. The duo will first drop their tracklist on December 30, followed by their album preview on December 31. The duo will release a series of concept photos till January 14 next year before finally releasing their album on January 17, 2022.
