Are YG idols at risk? iKON's Junhoe and Treasure's Yoshi infected with Covid-19 too

There are now six artists under YG Entertainment who have tested positive for the virus

It doesn’t look like the pandemic is going to die out anytime soon. While South Korea had control over it since the beginning of 2020, the new Omicron outbreak has once again shaken the world, including the home of K-pop. Since the new variant isn’t considered lethal and most citizens have also taken their third vaccine shot, social distancing guidelines aren’t too strict. But this has led to several idols contracting Covid-19 like iKON’s Junhoe and Treasure’s Yoshi.

At the end of 2021, we had some idols getting Covid-19 like BTS, Kep1er and Omega X members, however, they have all recovered. But in the first week of January 2022, we had idols like Super Junior’s Eunhyuk testing positive for Covid-19. Unfortunately on January 23, it was then reported that three of iKON’s members - Jinhwan, Yunhyeong and Donghyuk had all contracted Covid-19 but had mild symptoms. Following them, it was reported that their labelmate, Winner’s Seung-hoon who had just been discharged from the military and The Boyz’s Eric had also gotten Covid-19.

Junhoe is fourth iKON member to fall sick

The remaining iKON, Winner and The Boyz’s members all got tested too and came back negative. However, on January 25, it was reported that iKON’s Junhoe aka Ju-ne had tested positive after taking a new PCR test. He had tested negative on January 22 when the first three iKON members had contracted the virus. But on the 24th he had mild symptoms like a sore throat and immediately got tested. The re-test came back positive and it is now confirmed that Junhoe has Covid-19.

Yoshi gets Covid before Treasure’s comeback

In the same statement by YG Entertainment, they revealed that along with Junhoe, another YG artist ended up testing positive too from the rookie boy group Treasure. Its members were preparing for a comeback after one whole year. As they were getting ready for their comeback with teasers and concept photos, the Treasure members were constantly getting tested so that they could go ahead with their promotional activities. Unfortunately, on January 25, member Yoshi has tested positive for Covid-19. YG stated that since both Junhoe and Yoshi are vaccinated they are in good health and following all the Covid-related protocols.

YG stated that they would continue to test their staff and artists and make sure to not spread the virus. In mid-2021, Treasure’s Doyoung and Junghwan had gotten Covid-19. Fans hope that YG can limit the rookie group’s activities that require mass gatherings so that the other members do not end up getting the virus too.

'Disinfect the whole YG building'

Treasure Makers (fandom name of group) hoped that Yoshi would not feel guilty that he fell sick right before Treasure’s comeback. “Health comes first, don't worry and focus on your recovery, we're always here for you yoshi !” said one fan, while another Treasure Maker shared, “Praying for your fast recovery, i love you.” Another added, “We are all praying for your fast recovery and good health. Treasure Makers are here to cheer you up, so don't worry! Smiling face This will soon pass and we'll see you in your best health and condition!” A worried fan had additional instructions for label YG, saying: “THEY NEED TO DISINFECT THE WHOLE YG BUILDING. FROM IKON TO WINNER NOW TREASURE. GET WELL SOON JINHWAN, YUNHYEONG, DONGHYUK, JUNHOE, SEUNG-HOON AND YOSHI!!”

A fan shared, “This is not the YG boys crumbs I’m wishing for Please get well soon iKON Jinhwan, Yunhyeong, Donghyuk, Junhoe, WINNER Seunghoon and TREASURE Yoshi.” A Junhoe fan tweeted, “Get well soon my baby!” Another iKONIC posted, “Praying for the health of each one of you.” One said, “Rest well juneyaaa, wishing for a speedy recovery.” A worried fan added, “Yg should do something about the covid cases in their company. it's honestly getting alarming knowing that almost all of their artist has been diagnosed already!”
