Following the Omicron wave in the new year, South Korea immediately implemented several social distancing guidelines in hopes to curb the new Covid-19 variant. But since the new variant is not as lethal with many already getting their third vaccine shot, the country has allowed limited mass gatherings and in-person events like concerts. However, that has backfired with several K-pop idols getting Covid-19 like Winner’s Seung-hoon, The Boyz’s Eric and iKON members.

We first had BTS and Kep1er members recovering from their Covid-19 diagnosis. However, there has again been an outbreak in the industry as four Omega X members got Covid-19 followed by Super Junior’s Eunhyuk. On January 23, three of iKON’s members – Jinhwan, Yunhyeong and Donghyuk tested positive and had mild symptoms. And on the next day, on January 24, it has been reported that Winner’s Lee Seung-hoon and The Boyz’s Eric have also got Covid-19.

Winner’s Seung-hoon gets Covid-19 after finishing military service

iKON’s labelmates, Winner reunited a week ago when Seung-hoon was finally discharged from his mandatory military service on January 14. And so, fans find it quite unfair that 10 days later, the rapper ended up testing positive. On January 24, YG Entertainment reported that for his planned schedule on January 23, Seung-hoon has done a self-test. After it came back positive, all of Winner’s members stopped their activities and got PCR tests done. While the rest of the group are negative, Seung-hoon has got Covid-19. Since he is vaccinated, he doesn’t have any symptoms and is following all recovery guidelines.

All The Boyz members get tested

At the same time, it was reported by IST Entertainment that The Boyz’s youngest member, Eric had tested positive. He took his third vaccine shot on January 20 but since he came in close contact with a friend who had a positive friend, he took a PCR test on January 21 and 22. He was quarantined and as they both came back negative, he joined The Boyz for their planned activities. He again took a test on January 23 for the filming of the group’s reality show, however, that test has come back positive. All of the members and the staff have gotten tested immediately and are waiting for their results following which they will update their schedule accordingly.

'Get well soon'

Worried fans have been trending Seung-hoon and Eric as they sent well wishes. A Winner fan tweeted, “He's indeed the positive of positivity get well soon.” Another shared, “Eat well, sleep well, rest well you will be fine and don’t worry about us we will wait take care.” One fan loved Seung-hoon’s response to the news, “PLS...I LOVE HOW HOONY STARTED HIS MESSAGE WITH "omg..." He knows we are so worried and wanna make his message a bit light. Pls hope u recover soon @official_hoony_ ..we love u.”

A The Boyz fan posted, “Get well soon ERIC !! we love you and hope you have a safe recovery.” Another said, “GET WELL SOON ERIC :( HOPING FOR FAST RECOVERY AND NEGATIVE RESULTS FOR STAFFS AND MEMBERS :(.” One added, “Eric is fully vaccinated and has his booster shot so he has less chances of the symptoms being serious but I still hope he not only getting the rest he needs to fight it but also that he knows how much we are praying for his recovery :(.”
