Karadec and Morgan's chemistry has long captivated fans of 'High Potential.' However, the duo ended their sophomore run in a rather strange place with respect to each other. Karadec, played by Daniel Sunjata, found himself pursuing a relationship with his ex, Lucia (Susan Kelechi Watson), while Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) spent her time flirting with Captain Wagner (Steve Howey) in Season 2. Olson explained to PEOPLE that even though fans were disheartened by the presence of a new love interest for Karadec, it was necessary for the overall story and character. "I want these characters to be well-rounded," she said. "Yes, he's a by-the-book cop, but he's also a human being, so I wanted to make sure that you were able to see his heart, and you do with his relationship to Morgan. That was so important. Whether they're going to end up romantically involved or not, you see that these people really do have love for each other," she added.

The finale ended with Lucia heading to prison, and Wagner in critical condition. Even though the duo's respective 'partners' are now seemingly out of the picture, this does not mean that the fan favorite couple will find their way to each other. Olson is happy with this slow burn, as it allows the show to explore all the facets of the characters. "For me, it's so fun to lead people down a road where you're like, 'Oh, are they falling in love, or are they just really good friends? Maybe they're falling in love, or maybe they're just friends, or maybe they're just really good partners," she shared. "But sometimes those lines get crossed, sometimes feelings get confusing, sometimes you have feelings for someone, and then you put it onto someone else," Olson added.

The sophomore season ended on a high note for fans of the crime-solving duo. Viewers saw both characters embrace each other as Karadec came to terms with the fact that his girlfriend was involved in a murder. Morgan had warned him about Lucia before, but he did not pay heed then. "You just loved her too much to see the things that you didn't want to see. It's okay," Morgan reassured her emotional partner. After a lingering hug, Morgan promised Karadec that she would always be there for him. In response, the detective wiped a tear off her cheek, a moment that will linger in the minds of fans until Season 3 premieres. Since its debut, the show has continued to tease fans with the possibility of a relationship between the detective and the LAPD consultant. 'High Potential' will soon return with another season, and fans are eager to see how things play out between the much-loved duo.
