‘High Potential’ 2 finale might finally bring Karadec and Morgan closer — here's what to expect
‘High Potential’ is heading straight toward its Season 2 ending with just enough mystery still hanging in the air to keep fans restless. A total of 18 episodes may sound like a long run on paper, but somehow it does not feel that way when you have been following Morgan Gilloery (Kaitlin Olson) and Detective Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) week after week, watching cases get solved. And now the finale is almost here. Season 2 did not exactly take its time easing into things. The new findings about Roman, Gillory’s ex, changed the entire direction of the story. For years, he had been gone, missing without answers. Now, the show made it clear that he’s alive, out there somewhere, and that he used to work as an FBI informant. If anything, it stirred up more questions than it answered.
The show did not rush to explain it either, choosing instead to let the uncertainty linger while introducing new players who only made things murkier. Enter Willa Quinn (Jennifer Jason Leigh), a character who is connected to the Romans’ mystery. And then there’s Wagner Sr. (Clancy Brown), whose involvement brought another twist, particularly after it was revealed that he has ties to Quinn. That raises a whole new set of questions about what’s really going on behind the scenes and how deep this whole situation runs. ABC has already dropped the official details for the finale, and the episode is titled ‘Family Tree,’ set to air on Tuesday, April 7. Moreover, given everything about Roman and Gillory, and the growing web of connections around them, it’s not hard to guess that their family will take center stage in some way.
As if the personal storylines were not enough, the case at the center of the finale also comes with its own complications. According to the official synopsis, “A woman is found dead at the luxury hotel where Lucia works, posing a potential complication for Karadec and Morgan’s investigation. Elsewhere, Ava races to come up with the perfect idea for her art show.” Lucia’s connection to the location immediately creates a tricky situation for Karadec, who is romantically involved with her. There is the possibility of a conflict of interest. It’s also possible that Lucia (Susan Kelecy Watson) could be holding back information she is not legally allowed to disclose to Karadec. That kind of silence could start to strain their relationship.
And let’s be real, situations like this rarely go smoothly. While all of that is going on, there is another angle fans have not stopped talking about since the very beginning: the connection between Gillory and Karadec. From the pilot episode, viewers picked up on it. They observed interactions that seemed a little too intimate for coworkers and noticed glances that lingered a beat longer than expected. Still, they have not crossed the line so far, even though many are convinced there is something there. Now that Lucia is directly tied to this case, the situation could finally change in the way things stand between them. Of course, it’s not guaranteed, but it’s possible.
