Are Julie Theis and Jake Chocholous still together? 'The Trust: A Game of Greed' contestant's 'lie' jeopardizes relationship
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, CARIBBEAN: 'The Trust: A Game of Greed' Season 1 contestants Julie Theis and Jake Chocholous developed a romantic connection as they cozied and cuddled up on the Netflix show. However, the couple is yet to share an official update on their possible romance.
Julie and Jake still follow each other on social media and also comment on or like one another's social media posts, which is clearly a good sign. It's likely that they have continued to be in a long-distance relationship, or at least as friends, as Jake lives in Florida and Julie is based in Houston, Texas.
During Season 1 of the Netflix show, Jake and Julie came very close and remained together to protect each other. Julie's attraction was clearly visible as she voted for Simone Stewart to leave the trust to protect Jake from elimination as she believed Jay Patterson was voting for Jake to evict him from the game.
However, Julie and Jake's connection appeared to hit a bump during Episode 7 of the Netflix show. During the Trust Ceremony, host Brooke Baldwin handed each contestant an envelope with the names of the person whom they had voted for to leave 'The Trust'.
Julie told Jake she would vote for Winnie but later backed out without giving any information to him. However, Julie voted for Juelz, Simone and Bryce Lee and Jake was left disappointed after he noticed Winnie's name was missing from the card.
"I was a little disappointed in Julie that we didn't see Winnie's name on that card cause we expected her to fully act on what she said she was gonna do. If she was uncomfortable with it, she should have just freaking told us. Finding that out never feels good after the fact, when you're finally forced to reveal your hand," he said.
Tolu Ekundare warns Julie Theis about Jake Chocholous
'The Trust: A Game of Greed' contestant Tolu Ekundare was afraid that Julie Theis could end up breaking her heart. She pulled out Julie for a chat and warned her about Jake.
Julie protected Jake throughout Season 1 but Tolu claimed that Jake would not do the same. Tolu called out Julie and said, "The fact that you say you can't vote for Jake cause you're so loyal to him - because he would never vote for you."
She added, "You chose Jake over Simone. You're gonna choose Jake over Winnie." Tolu further noted that Jake would save Brian over Julie if he had an option but Julie was not ready to listen to the Netflix show contestant's suggestion.
Meanwhile, Winnie also agreed with Tolu's argument and said, "Jake does not like you, babe. He does not see you anything outside of this house." She added, "Do not let this man play you and that is what he is doing. Jake does not care about you."
Julie Theis and Jake Chocholous get cozy in pool
Julie Theis and Jake Chocholous had a romantic time in a swimming pool away from game strategy and elimination fear. The couple cozied up and confessed their admiration for each other.
Jake told Julie, "From day one you were like 'I'm this bad b***h', but it's like I noticed that you had a protective nature and then eventually you got past it, because at the end of the day, what did you keep saying? 'Guess what? You make me feel safe. You make me feel secure.'"
He added, "I'm like, 'Yeah I want you to feel safe and secure.'" However, Julie then asked Jake why he had been single so far and what exactly he was looking for in his partner. Jake shared, "Because I haven't found someone that just links up with me."
He added, "I'm looking for someone that just kinda matches my values, and ideals. Someone that's on the same page with me that in terms of wanting to be nurturing, giving, caring, just someone that gives as much as I give." Jake noted, "And if I didn't see anything from you, I tell you I would have backed off big time."
'The Trust: A Game of Greed' Season 1 Finale will premiere on Wednesday, January 24 on Netflix.
