LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans were disheartened when Angela Bassett didn't appear in 'Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One', the seventh installment of the popular spy action series.

Initially slated to join the cast, she was ultimately removed as she was unable to travel due to COVID restrictions. However, with no such limitations currently in place, she will probably make a comeback in the eighth installment of 'Mission Impossible.'

What does Christopher McQuarrie say about Angela Bassett's return to 'Mission Impossible'?

Co-writer and director Christopher McQuarrie hinted at Angela Bassett's return to the franchise.

"Angela Bassett isn't done with us yet," said McQuarrie during a chat with Variety.

"Angela is too fabulous, you could never ever let Angela get away, so there's always a plan in the future," he added.

In the Tom Cruise-led franchise, Bassett plays Erika Sloane, the deputy director of the CIA, and Alan Hunley's former assistant. 

Hunley was a major character in 'Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation' (2015) and 'Mission: Impossible- Fallout' (2018).

Fans react to Angela Bassett's possible return to 'Mission Impossible'

Sloane is a tough character who doesn't entertain the IMF's antics and complicated schemes. She's ruthless and direct, posing challenges for Ethan Hunt, the protagonist of the action spy films.

Fans are definitely excited about her possible return. An eager fan exclaimed, "THANK GOD!" while another added, "Best Actress for a leading role award is coming." "Good! It was a shame she wasn’t in 7," reads another tweet.

Praising Bassett's versatility, a fan on X mentioned, "She’s an incredible actress." "TOM CRUISE knows who to add to make his movies great. Amazing man!!!" sighed another fan.

Yet, a fan pointed out that the return of several other cast members would generate more excitement.

Emphasizing the same, he wrote, "Honestly there are a couple more cast members I’d like to see back, Jeremy Renner for one, also Maggie Q, Paula Patton, hell if they could write in a way for Henry Cavill’s Walker so suddenly be alive, that would be dandy, if only just because Henry Cavill."
