Spoilers for 'And Just Like That' Episode 5 ' Tragically Hip'

Thursday's here and with it comes with a brand new episode of 'And Just Like That'! The much-anticipated HBO Max reboot of 'Sex and the City' has unexpectedly been tanking with the audiences. So we are keeping are fingers crossed and hoping the remaining episodes can turn the tide.

In episode 4, we saw Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) make a new friend — her realtor Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury) as she was slowly moving on at her pace, which was sweet. But let's not forget the Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis) 'no black friends' debacle and her moaning about the lack of diversity in her life, which was just so cringe. Overall, 'And Just Like That' has had ups and downs  — but more downs really. So read on to know what happened in the fifth episode and what we thought of it.

'And Just Like That' Episode 4 bids adieu to late Willie Garson's role Stanford Blatch

The episode opens on a fun note as we are met once again by Seema who, we have to say, is effortlessly fabulous and cool. Her visit to Carrie's apartment ends up with a doctor's appointment which confirms that Carrie does indeed need a hip surgery. Right at the episode's start, we also see a surprising development as Charlotte finds out her daughter Rose is now going by the name "Rock". From what we saw in previous episodes, her daughter's gender identity will be an ongoing plot that we quite appreciate. Even the way the school authorities dealt with Rock's request was sweet to see and this instance of progressiveness was a welcome change compared to what was forced on viewers recently.

The episode also had wholesome and funny moments which highlighted the strong bond between friends. High on painkillers, Carrie sat confused about the status of her pee and we couldn't help but laugh at this funny incident that left Charlotte baffled. But the biggest serving of drama in this episode was dished by none other than Miranda. The former redhead was seen drinking a bit excessively this season which had many worried and now we know why. After she gets drunk with Che, she finds reprieve from her problems by having some steamy sex in the kitchen and Carrie wakes up hearing her moan. This was a shocking development that left us stunned. When Carrie, who sees it all asks, about it, Miranda breaks down and everything comes spilling out of her.

In a truly heartbreaking moment, Miranda admits she knows she's been having a bit too much alcohol, but it's because she has been unhappy for the longest time. She hates her life and feels trapped in her marriage and wants more from life. As she gasps that 'this isn't enough,' you can feel her pain and we have to say that Cynthia Nixon was brilliant in this episode.

Dealing with real-life circumstances, the fifth episode of 'And Just Like That' was a pretty good one that addressed realistic struggles in a commendable way. A much better watch than previous episodes, and we hope the next few episodes don't disappoint either.

'And Just Like That' returns with new episodes every Thursday on HBO MAX
