The fourth episode of 'And Just Like That' saw Carrie decide to sell the house she and Big lived in as it felt empty after his death. She soon moved back into her old apartment and the episode sees various different characters go about their lives as per usual. But 30 minutes into the episode and we have the explanation for Stanford's absence that is to be expected from now on.

Willie Garson as we all know, tragically passed away due to cancer in September this year. The actor who played the iconic role of Carrie's gay best friend was slated to appear for the whole season but his illness caused him to film just three episodes before he passed away. The third episode titled 'When in Rome...' served as his final appearance in the 'SATC' reboot with the fourth episode explaining his departure.

Carrie who comes home, finds a letter addressed to her from Stanford and later calls his husband Anthony Marentino (Mario Cantone) after reading it. The letter read, "By the time you read this, I'll be in Tokyo, I couldn't tell you – not without crying. And you have had enough crying". After Anthony arrives and she asks him what's going on, he tells her Stanford has gone to Japan on tour with a TikTok star that he manages. Carrie still doesn't get why he did this via letter with Anthony explaining that his husband didn't like disappointing people in person. A sad Carrie says that she would want to know when her friends are succeeding, no matter what's going on in her own life, and is hurt. But that is not all as Anthony reveals he got a letter too, in which Stanford asks for a divorce

Thus, the fourth episode bid goodbye to Stanford and it remains to be seen how the story unfolds in further episodes.

'And Just Like That' returns with new episodes every Thursday on HBO MAX.
