Spoilers for 'And Just Like That' Episode 4 'Some of My Best Friends

HBO Max's 'Sex and the City' reboot 'And Just Like That' has been in the news right from when it was conceived but the recent controversies surrounding one of the cast members have overshadowed all others.

Nevertheless, the iconic ladies of the show have been supportive and have had each other's back in real as well as reel lives. Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) just lost her husband Big (Chris Noth) and is going through a crisis but Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis) and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) have got her back. Each of the women has other stuff going in their life as well, with Miranda having a non-existent marriage to Charlotte being confused about how to handle the fact that her daughter may potentially be queer, 'And Just Like That' is covering many bases. The fourth episode took the story further and here's what we thought of it.

The fourth episode begins with all the ladies of the show getting coffee and starting the day. Charlotte is making dinner plans with Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) as she really wants to be more than a 'mom friend' and Miranda is back home late smelling weed after her party with Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez). Amidst all the parental happenings, we see Carrie preparing to move on with her life after she decides to sell her and Big's (Chris Noth) apartment and move back to her old one.

The episode focused mainly on the ladies as we see new friendships bloom. Miranda bonds with her law teacher Dr Nya Wallace (Karen Pittman) with her imparting knowledge of motherhood. We also saw a new character introduced in the form of Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury) who is Carrie's realtor. A potential new friend for our protagonist, Seema is smart and chic and looks to be a fun new addition. But the episode also features some highly questionable scenes which left us cringing. The show which has been heavy on diversity tried to be inclusive once more but went about it the wrong way. Charlotte who realizes she hardly has any black friends tries to recruit a random black neighbor in order to make Lisa think she's not so vanilla and the whole fiasco that continued made us facepalm with disappointment. It seems like there's a theme to the show, so such instances should be expected from the new episodes as well.

Along with friendships, there were goodbyes too. Stanford Blatch played by the late Willie Garson was written off the show with the third episode marking his final appearance. Although a sad fact, the way his absence was justified was unsatisfactory and didn't match up to the character's personality. Meanwhile, it's goodbye to her home for Carrie as well as she begins a new chapter of her life. The fourth episode if not problematic was boring and we hope there's better to come.

'And Just Like That' returns with new episodes every Thursday on HBO Max.
