When it comes to the 'America's Got Talent' stage, never judge a book by its cover. While some acts may sound like they don't have much to offer, the actual performance itself might very well blow your mind. And on Season 17, it looks like 25-year-old Shu Takada from Yokohama, Japan, was determined to do just that!

Before taking on the stage, Shu Takada explained that as a kid, he was really shy and often hid behind his parents. However, yo-yo changed his life -- it taught him the happiness of expressing himself and allowed him to be a more outgoing person. Takada spoke about how people view yo-yos as a toy, but it was actually an extreme sport, culture and art. For Takada, being on 'America's Got Talent' was his chance to break the stereotype behind yo-yos and his opportunity to share his yo-yo style with the world. As Takada set out to impress the judges, Simon Cowell mentioned that he had seen yo-yo acts across the years, but they had been boring so far -- he wanted to know where Takada saw himself in 5 years.

He explained that his dream was to have his own show and travel the world to share the "coolness of yo-yo-ing". While everyone seemed unsure of what to expect from his performance, Takada absolutely blew it out of the water, combing yo-yo-ing with acrobatics and dance. By the end of it, everyone was in awe of Takada's fantastic performance -- he even earned a standing ovation from the judges. Simon Cowell noted that he was not expecting that. Howie Mandel explained that Takada was a performer and was impressed thoroughly. Sofia said that she was a cool guy and that he deserved to be here. Simon Cowell even pointed out that this was a performance people would watch over and over and with that, Takada scored 4 yeses.

Fans were just as impressed. "I never thought you could do that much with a Yoyo, that was EPIC  #AGT" said a fan. "The best yo-yo act I’ve ever seen! Hands down  #AGT" added another. "Yo-yo, but make it ATHLETIC #AGT #AGTPremiere" said another. "I thought I’d hate the yo-yo guy but then… #AGT" said a fan.
