'So You Think You Can Dance' has always been a platform for artists from different backgrounds to showcase their talent. Episode 2 of Season 17 saw Zyiasia Knighton, an EMT cum Emergency Room Patient Care Technician, take the stage and floor the audience and the judges alike with her performance but her story seemed to have impressed them much before her audition did.

Hailing from Massachusetts, Zyiasia chose to become an EMT after losing her father due to an error made by one. Her father was shot over 20 times and died while waiting for emergency care that was dispatched to the wrong location. She never wanted another child to experience what she underwent, opting to work as an ambulance technician. Zyiasia is also a trained ballet dancer who had dreamt of being on 'So You Think You Can Dance'. With a moving performance, Zyiasia managed to check her second goal, getting a unanimous nod from the judges, and all the love and support from fans.
