New Mexico’s Khalisol was the fourth contestant to perform on Week 5, the last week of live qualifiers on ‘American Song Contest’. The rapper from New Mexico stunned everyone with his rap skills and most importantly, the viewers were surprised by the stage setting. Although there were a lot of words of encouragement from Snoop Dogg, social media seems to be thinking the exact opposite.

The contestants for Week 5 after a stellar previous week include — Tenelle (American Samoa), Sweet Taboo (California), Jason J (Guam), Andrew Sheppard (Idaho), Halie (Missouri), Sisqo (Maryland), Josh Panda (Vermont), Khalisol (New Mexico), John Morgan (North Carolina), and Ada LeAnn (Michigan).

“The songs have not been great tonight. New Mexico was especially bad,” tweeted one of the fans. “Not surprised by New Mexico's ranking, quite surprised by Missouri's. Though I'm guessing Michigan and North Carolina leeched a bit of what would have been her jury support,” said another one.

“New Mexico's staging is more interesting than the song,” said another Twitter user. “this is not giving what is supposed to be given #AmericanSongContest,” wrote another one.
Another social media user said, “Do I applaud new Mexico for being unique? yes, do I think New Mexico is the next Latvia/Georgia? Do I like the song? absolutely not.”

However, all the comments were not that bad and fans applauded the singer for a beautiful stage setting and his rapping skills.

“What an attention-grabbing opening for New Mexico,” wrote another user. “Song 4: New Mexico. Love the best, and the staging concept was pretty unique. Fun!” wrote another Twitter user.

Another fan wrote, “New Mexico's song is a vibe, I love good rap.” Another social media user said, “Act 4 - Show 5 New Mexico — Khalisol — “Drop” the song was a regional song at best and was so radio basic My Score – 3.”
