Performing in the Semifinals was undoubtedly a highlight for Tennessee's Tyler Braden, but it wasn't the only one, seeing that he had just gotten married. Braden noted that making the finals would be a fantastic wedding gift, seeing that his wife had supported him throughout his journey. When it came to his song, he explained that it was all about 'understanding' and hoped that the audience would resonate with it yet again. While Braden sang his heart out and garnered support from fans, he seems to have won the jury over in a heartbeat, as they advanced him to the finals. However, Twitter was less than amused by this.

"We must cancel these juries, I had enough with their crap. #AmericanSongContest" tweeted a fan. "the jury only likes country ffs #AmericanSongContest" added another. "Can't wait for the #AmericanSongContest final next week, some much needed practice for my outrage at robberies in a song contest before the first Eurovision results are announced!" said a fan. "#AmericanSongContest jury putting in another white male crooner thru" tweeted another. "The fact they announced Tennessee last to create tension and everyone just knew it would be 1st with the Jury haha #Shady #AmericanSongContest" said a fan. "This jury is so boring! This results are so awful! #AmericanSongContest" added another. "OF COURSE THE JURY PUTS THEIR PREVIOUS PICK ON TOP AGAIN, THEY HAVE NO TASTE AND HATE FUN! Seriously any songs that showed culture/were fun got done dirty. #AmericanSongContest" tweeted another.
