Round 1 of the semifinals of 'American Song Contest' is here and so is the pressure for artists who've made the cut. The semifinals are divided into two parts, with the first round featuring 11 artists performing the same original number again. However, the jury will only send one artist to the final rounds.

At the same time, the audience also has the power to vote for four other performances. Taking on the stage in Semi-Finals 1 are Alabama – Ni/Co, Colorado – Riker Lynch, Kentucky – Jordan Smith, Massachusetts – Jared Lee, Michigan – Ada LeAnn, Montana – Jonah Prill, New Hampshire – MARi, Oklahoma – AleXa, Rhode Island – Hueston, Washington – Allen Stone and Wyoming – Ryan Charles.

Going into the semifinals, Michigan's Ada LeAnn gave a shout out to all the 'Natalies' out there, mentioning that she was sorry, seeing that the name was the title of her song. She explained that it was a metaphor for when she felt that she was not good enough as a person, and that's what the song meant. She was grateful was being able to share her emotions on the 'ASC' stage and as the youngest singer in the competition, she really hoped to win.

While Ada LeAnn was a crowd favourite during the qualifiers, Twitter seemed to have mixed reviews about the artist the second time around. "Ada Leann didn't snatch the top this time. Another solid performance, but it does fall a little flat in comparison to the others. Still a great songwriter and singer though. #AmericanSongContest" tweeted a fan. "am i the only person who feels the ada girl is like the wish version of taylor swift? #AmericanSongContest" asked another. "I stand corrected about my guess that Ada Leann was going to be pushed to the moon in the #AmericanSongContest I still don't see how someone who evokes the everything of TS does not do well. But it is not as clear cut here as I expected." countered a fan. "Here I was hoping and actually thinking the jury would somehow put Michigan over their favorite boy generic ballad acts... how could I be so dumb  #AmericanSongContest" tweeted another.
