'American Song Contest': Was Maryland's Sisqo robbed? Fans slam jury as Michigan makes semis

'They threw that result off the screen SO quickly. They really didn't want us to know how dirty they did Sisqo,' a tweet read

Despite Maryland's Sisqo wowing the fans in 'American Song Contest' by dishing out a vintage Sisqo performance, it was an absolute rant fest on Twitter as the jury chose 17-year-old Ada LeAnn from Michigan as the semifinalist. The youngest performer on the show was the first semifinalist from Week 5, the last stage of the live qualifiers. However, social media felt the Maryland singer was robbed of a potential place in the semis.

The contestants for this week include — Tenelle (American Samoa), Sweet Taboo (California), Jason J (Guam), Andrew Sheppard (Idaho), Justin Jesso (Illinois), Josh Panda (Vermont), Halie (Missouri), Khalisol (New Mexico), John Morgan (North Carolina), and Ada LeAnn (Michigan)

"Sisqo performs exactly as he did back in the 00’s. This is making me nostalgic. #AmericanSongContest," one of the tweets read. "Sisqó did not disappoint! (tho NGL I feel so old now) Understood the assignment and brought the #AmericanSongContest," a tweet seconded. "Sisqó really gave us a lot on that stage, he still has it after all of these years though! I definitely was getting down to the song! Won’t beat California though! Sorry Sisqó! #AmericanSongContest," a fan tweeted.

"#AmericanSongContest E.5-surprise with Stela & MARi, them being mid->low on the jury. Taboo & Sisqo were good, but sound pre-recorded to my ears. 1. Tenelle (AS) 2. John Morgan (NC) 3. Justin Jesso (IL) others: Sisqó (MD); Sweet Taboo (CA); Josh Panda (VT); Andrew Shephard (IL)" one of the fans wrote. "Sooooo the jury at the #AmericanSongContest is trash. How did Sisqó place 8th when he had the song of the night? Michigan was basically a whiny TS clone and American Samoa should’ve placed higher," a fan reckoned.

" They threw that result off the screen SO quickly. They really didn't want us to know how dirty they did Sisqo #AmericanSongContest," another fan remarked. "Sisqo was amazing let’s end the show with this juror you are gonna hate #AmericanSongContest," a comment said. Some had a different opinion. "Don’t get me wrong, #Maryland f yeah REPRESENT but I don’t think an internationally known recording artist like Sisqo should be eligible to perform in shows like #AmericanSongContest," a tweet said.
