'American Song Contest' was up and running with Week 5, the last stage of the live qualifiers, and the competition to make the semifinals got a lot more intense. Making a case for that spot was North Carolina's John Morgan with his track, 'Right in the Middle'. Early reactions to the song on YouTube were positive with fans calling it an automatic jury selection.

The contestants for Week 5 after a stellar previous week include — Tenelle (American Samoa), Sweet Taboo (California), Jason J (Guam), HALIE (Missouri), Justin Jesso (Illinois), Sisqo (Maryland), Josh Panda (Vermont), Khalisol (New Mexico), Andrew Sheppard (Idaho), and Ada LeAnn (Michigan).

Fans took to Twitter to share their two cents. "John morgan is the best thing to come from after-garth country music #AmericanSongContest," one of the fans remarked. "#AmericanSongContest Act 7 - Show 5 North Carolina — John Morgan — “Right in the Middle” I dont know if i am watching the tonight show the song is made for the radio crowd My score - 4," one of the fans opined. "John Morgan could easily top charts with that voice and songs like that one #northcarolina #AmericanSongContest @witn," a fan remarked.

"I was extremely surprised when John Morgan started singing. He has such control and strength as a vocalist. Unfortunately, I think the song is just right in the middle. Best of luck though John! #AmericanSongContest," one of the tweets read. "#NorthCarolina’s John Morgan writes a hell of a country song.
