‘American Idol’ Season 22 fans disappointed by Jack Blocker's 'bummer' first round finale performance

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 22 finalist Jack Blocker faced significant criticism for his performance during the first round of the competition. Fans expressed their disappointment, describing his performance as a "bummer" and voicing concerns that he might lose the competition. Many viewers took to social media to share their thoughts, with several saying that the other two finalists, Will Moseley and Abi Carter, were much stronger contenders.

Fans noted that Will and Abi delivered outstanding performances that outshined Jack's.

"Jack lost me. Haven't voted for Abi all season, but I don't even care who wins. Will is ok, but I just can't vote for a country guy. Voting for Abi, the best, most deserving singe," added another user.  "Abi's home clips show diversity. Complete opposite of Jack," said one. "I like Jack Blocker but I would rather have Abi Carter win," said another. 

"Hmm, I think Jack is trying to lose…which is okay by me. americanidol" added one. "It's Jack's night to lose. Will will be the most successful of the three. Abi just needs to keep outperforming them tonight. But she's not ahead of them at all," commented one. "Bummer first round Jack didn’t do well!" said another. 

Jack Blocker responds to criticism 

Jack Blocker has worked hard to earn the viewers' votes. However, he was at risk of elimination due to recent backlash. Jack has faced criticism over the past few episodes, especially for his facial expressions during his performances.

These expressions were even a point of contention during his audition, where judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie cited them as reasons for rejecting him initially. Despite this, Jack has taken the criticism in stride.

In a recent interview, he said, "I know where my lane is at this point and so I’m confident to stick with what I know and what I believe in."

Jack continued, "I know that it's not necessarily going to please everybody, but I'm content with that at this point. I'm just having fun up there."

Jack Blocker says he never thought he would make it to 'top 20' of the show

In his pre-performance segment, Jack Blocker reflected on his journey on 'American Idol', expressing surprise at making it to the Top 20. He described singing on the show's stage as an exhilarating experience, emphasizing how much he enjoys performing. Jack also expressed his commitment to the competition, saying he is willing to continue as long as the audience supports him.

"I definitely never dreamed I would be in the Top 20 of 'American Idol'," Jack said. "Singing on that stage is such a blast. It's just so much fun. I can't even tell you. It's awesome." He added, "As long as people want me to stay, I'll be here."
