PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA: Raymond Taylor, popularly known as Tripp, took the 'American Idol' stage by storm with his old-school charm. The aspiring young actor is a viral TikTok sensation with 300,000 followers on the platform and impressed the three judges, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan, with his performance.

Tripp initially shocked the Emmy Award-winning host Ryan Seacrest with his really deep voice for an 18-year-old. The young artist admires Lionel because of his penchant for old-school songs and admitted he was excited to meet him. A minute before Tripp started his 'American Idol' audition, Katy quipped that Tripp could be Lionel's son and the judge took it in stride and said, "I will take it as a compliment."

Tripp chose to audition with Ray Charles's song 'I Believe to My Soul' in front of the all-star judging panel for the hit show. He accompanied his singing with a piano. As Tripp was getting ready to start his audition, Katy told Lionel, "He could be your son." Both Lionel and Tripp replied that they would take it as a compliment, Tripp even quipped, "You could have a DNA test." 

After Tripp finished his song, the judges were charmed by him and Katy broke the silence by saying, "Are you sure Lionel, he isn't your son." She went on to compliment Tripp, saying he has that "it" factor and a phenomenal voice. Luke added that "I love your attack on the mike, I mean when you open up, the best thing is you have your own kind of sound with just the right amount of gravel and grit."



 

 'Give him a record'

'American Idol' fans really loved Tripp's performance and were impressed with his rich voice, Many have expressed that he deserves to get signed immediately, as one said, "your voice is NUTS. You’re winning." Another one commented, "Alright, so we all agree that Tripp Taylor should be signed. Right?" One more added, "Give Tripp Taylor a record now!  #AmericanIdol."

Trip's deep voice won many hearts and fans are rooting for him already as one commented, "Let's DO THIS BROSS 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 TAKE THAT WIN 🏆 🥇🎖️. " Another said, "He looks like someone who genuinely deserves the big break and I hope he goes far with his talents." One more added, "I say top 10 potential."

'American Idol' Season 21 airs every Sunday at 8 pm ET on ABC.
