'Alter Ego': The Loverboy has Alanis Morissette crushing on him after his performance

Anthony Flammia and his alter ego The Loverboy definitely found a few new fans tonight!

Living a life that celebrates your true authentic self is not easy. People are often forced into a mold based on assumptions. However, it takes courage to be your true, authentic self and be honest with your dreams and aspirations. For the contestants of 'Ater Ego', the show celebrates their uniqueness and allows them to portray themselves the way they see their own personas. As per the show's logline, it is a singing competition where contestants reinvent themselves and perform like never before -- as their dream avatar.'

With Alanis Morissette, Nick Lachey, Grimes and will.i.am as the judges, contestants take on digital avatars while showcasing their singing talents. The judges and the audience only see the avatar perform, ensuring that the judging and voting process depends entirely on their performances. Kick-starting the second half of the two-part premiere was Anthony Flammia aka The Loverboy.

The 34-year-old from Yonkers, New York, Flammia had previously been signed to a record label, but almost exclusively sang R&B. Inspired by his father, Flammia now wanted to break through and unleash his inner rock star. Flammia performed 'Livin' On a Prayer' by Bon Jovi. The judges were thrilled to see him bring it to the main stage. Morissette even joked about having a crush on Flammia's alter ego, seeing that his voice won them over. Being the first performance of the night, Flammia found himself on the Diamond. However, Safara, the next alter ego that followed after him, quickly knocked him off his spot. When it boiled down to final selection, Flammia was not voted safe by the studio audience, leaving his fate in the hands of the judges. But seeing that he had a unique voice and really sold his performance, the judges decided that he should stick around, allowing him to advance to the next round.
